At SIS, we celebrate diversity and we strive for our learners to realize that there is beauty not only in recognizing our similarities but also in our differences. Every year we put a spotlight on International Week so that students are engaged in explicit and thought-provoking activities to help them gain a better understanding of our school community and beyond.
This is a great opportunity to invite parents and other guest speakers into our classes to share stories, traditions, crafts, etc. With the older students, this is also a good opportunity to focus on the issues of inequalities, racism, and other relevant topics in our societies.
Usually, we end this week(s) with a celebration called the International Winter Bazaar that is graciously organized by our PSA. It is unlikely that we will hold the Bazaar this year but we look forward to the next year when PSA can once again bring the community together in a fun and productive celebration.
This year, the classroom-based events will take place during the weeks in December, and culminating on December 18th Friday. Please feel free to reach out to your classroom teachers if you are keen to volunteer.
Semester Two Class Placements As many of our teachers return, we will be adjusting student class placement ready for semester 2. This will allow us to create even more balanced classes and ensure that we are utilizing all returning teachers into their original grade level responsibilities.
One of the major benefits of this is that the class sizes from semester 2 will be smaller and therefore allow for greater individualized support. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with one of us either via email or by making an appointment through the school office: 755 2669 3669
A Glimpse into Kg Learning Groups In Kindergarten, we value literacy in many forms: reading and writing, numerical literacy, digital literacy, cultural literacy, media literacy, and visual literacy. Here is a peek at how our typical workshops look like in Kg.
