Finance update

We the help of some extraordinary efforts, including two anonymous donors providing a match, we were able to end the year in the black – thanks be to God! Income for April soared to $50,411.25, while expenses for the month held steady at $35,671.14.  As a result, our final income total for the fiscal year was $447,672.08.   Despite this income total being $38,000 less than anticipated, we were able to cut expenses in order to achieve a positive cash balance for the year.  We give thanks for all of the financial support, and we are energized to start the new fiscal year on this positive note.  –Stewardship Task Group

New in the Formation Resource Library

Overplayed: A parent's guide to sanity in the world of youth sports by David King and Margot Starbuck
David King and Margot Starbuck offer good news for Christian parents stressed out by these questions and stretched thin by the demands of competitive youth sports. Join King, athletic director at a Christian university, and Starbuck, an award-winning author and speaker, as they investigate seven myths about what’s best for young athletes. Discover with them what it means to not be conformed to the patterns of the youth sports world. Listen in as they talk to other parents, pastors, and coaches about the peril and promise of children’s sports. Learn practical ways to set boundaries and help kids gain healthy identities as beloved children of God—both on and off the field, and whether they win or lose.

Lord Willing? Wrestling with God's role in my child's death by Jessica Kelley
When her young son was diagnosed with brain cancer, Jessica Kelley couldn’t stomach Christian clichés. In Lord Willing?, Kelley boldly tackles one of the most difficult questions of the Christian life: if God is all-powerful and all-loving, why do we suffer? For Kelley, this question takes an even more painful and personal turn: did God lack the power or the desire to spare her four-year-old son? For those dissatisfied with easy answers to why evil and tragedy occur, Lord Willing? offers a refreshing, hopeful journey straight to the heart of God.

Servanthood Communication workshop for church groups

Presenter Ted Lewis uses a variety of interactive learning segments to help people develop communication skills that are Other-Centered and Agape-Driven. Ted uses Philippians 2:1-11 as a base for understanding how our speaking and listening skills can serve others more rather than keeping us at the center of the conversational center of gravity. This workshop can be adapted between 2 to 4 hours, and can also be customized with respect to relevant conflict issues in your church. For more information//:  or reach Ted at 715-205-5945 /
