We Need Your Help!!!

May 2020 e-news

Hi Everyone,

I would like to thank everyone who has helped us this past two months as we continued to serve the folks on the streets during COVID-19. We continue to serve 1000 homeless meals per week.
I would also like, on behalf of all of us at Street Life Ministries, to thank the nurses, doctors, firefighters, police, and all essential workers who have placed themselves in harm's way to make sure others are taken care of. God bless all of you.

I have some exciting news to share with you; we are expanding our services in Redwood City! We are launching a drive-through meal service to better serve affected families in our community.  Waiting in line for food simply will not work well for families with children. Consequently, we will have the stand-in line for to-go meals on the Middlefield lot and at the same time a drive-through service taking place across the street in the Rise City Church parking lot.  A big thank you to Rise City Church for allowing us to use the lot!
Also, as we navigate through this situation, we are continuing to plan and push forward toward our new Homeless to Vocation program that will give our communities’ homeless the help, skills, and training to get back on their feet.  This is crucial to ensuring people can get off and stay off the streets.
To donate to help us meet the needs of the new drive-through program, and to help with our Homeless to Vocation program, please consider clicking the link below to make a donation.
We love you all and we are praying for you and your family during this time, as I ask you all to please pray for the dear people we serve.
Thank you all so much in advance for your support.
God bless.

May 2020

Saw a meme on Facebook the other day. It read, “I’m getting kind of tired of being part of a major historical event.”  I gotta tell you, I felt that sentiment. I understand the why of what we’re doing, and yes, the logic is beyond reproach, but that doesn’t for a second mean I have to like any of it. I think the worst is the lack of contact. I love getting my hugs on, and in the current climate, that’s a big ol’ no-no. Can’t shake hands, can’t high-five, aren’t even supposed to knuckle-bump. Totally goes contrary to my nature. I think I’m just like any other human though – I just desire that connection, and being denied it this past six weeks has definitely caused me some stress. Honestly, I think I’m just saying out loud what most everyone has been feeling. There’s no way I’m the only one.

I realize there’s going to be a NEW normal, and that we’re all going to have to adjust. I mean, we can’t just go back to everything we used to do just because the Shelter-In-Place finally gets lifted. We need to learn from all this, don’t you think? Adapt and overcome. It’s kind of what we do.

Baby steps. In the coming weeks, that’d be my advice to anyone who reads this. Take baby steps. I think this is definitely a case of slow n’ steady winning the race. None of us has ever been in the situations we are bound to have to face in the coming weeks as the Shelter-In-Place gets lifted and we begin to forge our new normal. Take it easy. Go easy on yourself, as well as others. Like I said earlier, we’ve never been here before. None of us. It’s going to take a whole lot of grace to get through it, but I guarantee we will.
So I woke up today and saw that Shelter-In-Place is going to last through to the end of May now.

Honestly, I feel like it’s a smart move. Stay safe, everyone, and may the Lord watch over you and yours.
