Fred's Place Community Sleepout

Community leaders and members of our sector have come out in force to support a vital Tweed service by signing up for Fred’s Place Community Sleepout, being held this Thursday, 30 July.
Lots of colleagues of friends have signed up to experience for just one night how people facing homelessness live every day. Check out the event website to donate now and help them raise funds for Fred’s Place and raise awareness of homelessness in the Tweed community.

NSW Disability Inclusion Plan Fact Sheet

In February 2015 the Hon, John Ajaka launched the NSW Disability Inclusion Plan.  The Plan supports the NSW Government’s commitment to remove systemic and attitudinal barriers so that people with disability have a better opportunity to live a meaningful life and enjoy the full benefits of membership in the community.

The Aboriginal Strategic Direction (ASD) 2012-2017 is a NSW Police Force policy that gives guidance to police working with Aboriginal people and communities. The NSW Police would like feedback on the level of Aboriginal community satisfaction with police efforts under this policy.

3rd NCOSS & LPI Workshop: The NSW Globe and Spatial Data

Land and Property Information (LPI) in partnership with NCOSS have run two workshops for the sector on accessing spatial data via the NSW Globe. Feedback from participants in both workshops has been extremely positive.
To build on the success of these workshops, LPI will be conducting a third workshop on 13 August 2015. The workshop is aimed at community sector NGO workers and will discuss which priority data banks the sector would like included in a proposed social services theme on the NSW Globe.

Bringing Up Great Kids

Casino Family Support Service is running a free 4 week parenting group program called Bringing Up Great Kids, in partnership with  Casino Brighter Futures. The group will be held at the Richmond- Upper Clarence Regional Library , Graham Place Casino each Wednesday morning from 12th August until 2nd September for 10 am until 1 pm. Morning tea will be provided.

NSW Government’s new Smart and Skilled Fee-Free Scholarships mean that students can get the skills they need to get the job they want and their course fees will be covered.
From 1 July 2015, young people (aged 15-30) who meet the Smart and Skilled Fee-Free Scholarship criteria will be eligible for a government subsidy which covers their Smart and Skilled course fee.
