Clubhouse Flood Appeal
to be Beneficiary of FRESH Air Gallery Live Art Auction

Clubhouse Coordinator Dusty McOnie is excited to announce that The Youth Connections Clubhouse Flood Appeal is to be the beneficiary of proceeds raised from The FRESH AIR Gallery live art show and Silent Auction, being held on 19-20 May in Byron Bay Surf Alley.

Public Transport Information Roadshows

Social Futures has been hosting transport information days across the region, in collaboration with local transport providers. The next Roadshows will be in Casino on Tuesday 30 May and Mullumbimby on Thursday 15 June.

Linker – Ability Links

Ability Links has a vacancy for a Linker, working part-time 3 days per week in the Richmond Valley / Kyogle region. Applications close: Wednesday 17 May 2017.
Linkers work with local communities to help them become more welcoming and inclusive of people with disability. Ability Links differs from traditional case management with its emphasis on working alongside people with a disability, rather than for them.
 

Local Area Coordinator – Lived Experience

Full time, part time and casual positions are available for Local Area Coordinators in the Tweed, Casino, Ballina & Grafton locations. Local Area Coordinators (LACS) will be committed to improving the lives of people with disability and will work directly with participants to facilitate choice and control over the services they receive. Applications close: Wednesday 17 May 2017.
 

Standby Response Outreach Worker

A part-time role (46 hours per fortnight) is available in Coffs Harbour for a StandBy Response Service Outreach Worker, to assist and support the StandBy Response Service Coordinator to deliver service to individuals, families, workplaces and communities who have been bereaved through suicide. Applications close: 9 May 2017.
 

EOI Allied Health Professional – headspace

There is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people in a role as a private Allied Health Professional, working as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering psychological intervention to headspace clients.

Shared Home Ownership Helps People with Disability: Report

New research by UNSW’s Social Policy Research Centre has found that shared home ownership schemes for people with disability bring potential benefits but also expose people to debt risks.

North Coast Regional Plan 2036 released

The NSW Government has released the North Coast Regional Plan 2036. This Plan provides a 20-year blueprint for the future of the North Coast.

LGBTI Ageing and Aged Care Strategy Feedback

The Commonwealth is seeking feedback to the current LGBTI Ageing and Aged Care strategy.

Survey on NGO digital and data capabilities

The NSW Department of Finance is asking NGOs to complete a survey on their digital and data capability. This is to capture input from NGOs who were not able to attend workshops. The survey will remain open until 19 May 2017.

Lismore Flood Appeal applications now open

Lismore City Council is calling for applications from those hardest hit by recent flooding to access Lismore Flood Appeal assistance. The Lismore Flood Appeal Steering Committee has more than $200,000 to distribute and would like to hear from local residents struggling to get back on their feet.

Food rescue supermarket helping combat waste

Food rescue group OzHarvest has opened Australia’s first ever rescued food supermarket, stocked with produce that has either been donated or would otherwise go to waste, but is perfectly edible. Based on a ‘take what you need, give if you can’ philosophy, the purpose is to make rescued food available to everyone, especially those who need it most.

Family Planning NSW is running two FREE information session on Puberty, Sexuality & Relationships for parents and carers of children and young people with intellectual disability, on Wednesday 7 June at Alstonville Anglican Church and Thursday 8 June at Pottsville Neighbourhood Centre.

Women’s DV Support Group

Empowered Women is an education and support group for women recovering from intimate partner violence, being run by Lismore Women’s Health and Resource Centre on Mondays 10am-1:30pm, 15 May to 19 June 19 at 60 Uralba St, Lismore.

Free parenting seminars for parents of kids with disability

Parents of children with a disability rarely get a break, but it’s hoped an upcoming series of free parenting seminars on the Far North Coast will help make life easier for local families.

Connecting Women support group

Connecting Women is a weekly support group aimed at ‘Finding Strength through Empowerment’. The group meets on Tuesdays at the Lismore Women’s Health & Resource Centre, 60 Uralba Street.

Under the Communities for Children funding, Interrelate will be offering the following free Parenting Programs for Term 2, 2017.

Community Disability Information Alliance – Ballina

People with disabilities and their families/carers are welcome to attend the Community Disability Information Alliance – Ballina (CDIA-Ballina), which usually meets on the first Tuesday of each month.

The next meeting is on 9 May at the Richmond Room, behind Ballina Library, 10am-12noon.

Free Laughter Yoga classes during May

A Certified Laughter Yoga Leader is running free Laughter Yoga classes in Lismore every Saturday in May between 12-1pm and SilverCloud Studios, 14 Foleys Road, South Lismore.

Applications for the Westpac Community Grants program opened on 1 May 2017 and Westpac invites all eligible community organisations to apply for a $10,000 Community Grant. Applications close 9 June 2017.

Natural Disaster Relief Scheme Grants – North Coast Floods (Non Profit Organisations)

A grant up to $15,000 is available to all eligible non-profit organisations for clean-up and immediate restoration costs following the recent flood event.

Way2Go Volunteer Management Training available

Register now for the Online Volunteer Management Toolkit and Training in our region! For a limited time, the NSW Department of Family and Community Services is fully subsidising Way2Go volunteer management training for NSW volunteer managers. This means that until 30 June 2017, volunteer managers of NSW not for profit organisations train for a small fee of $10.

Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Workshops

Expressions of interest are now being taken for a Cultural Awareness Workshop to be held at DAISI, Shop 3 166 River Street, Ballina. There is a choice of 2 days – 22 June or 19 July 2017.
