September is Self-Care Awareness Month and a great time to take a moment to remember that you can’t pour from an empty cup. As educators, we are called to a higher purpose in meeting our students’ academic, physical, social, and emotional needs…but we cannot forget to tend to ourselves and our own needs!
Arkansas Teacher Corps ( @ArkTeacherCorps) and Teach Plus Arkansas ( @TeachPlusAR) are proud to lift up our educators and highlight the many ways in which educators can prioritize their own self-care! We invite you to join us for a #SelfCareSeptember Twitter Chat on Tuesday, September 27 at 6 PM to share with and learn from educators across the state of Arkansas.
We will release one question every 5 minutes starting at 6 PM on Tuesday 9/27 and invite you to join us to add your own thoughts and self-care strategies:
- Introduce yourself by stating your name and the grade level you teach
- What do you do in the moment to calm yourself?
- What do you do to set boundaries and how do you go about doing it?
- What's a quick tip or words of advice that you can offer for a new teacher about practicing self-care?
- What can or should be added to the school environment to enhance the promotion of self-care for educators?
- What can or should be added to the school environment to enhance the promotion of self-care for students?
Starting at 6 PM on 9/27, login on Twitter and find each question using the hashtag #SelfCareSeptember. In adding your own responses, make sure to begin each tweet with A1, A2, A3 etc to indicate the question to which you are responding and end each tweet with the hashtag #SelfCareSeptember.
