Free PD in Brain-Based, Trauma-Informed Teaching

***Opportunities Open to All ATC Fellows and Alumni***

ATC has partnered with the non-profit organization edwell to provide a number of new professional development opportunities to support fellows with brain-based, trauma-informed teaching. While training has been planned with current fellows in mind, the two opportunities below are open to all ATC alumni. Contact Brandon at blucius@uark.edu with any questions.

Corps-Wide Professional Development

A 4-part workshop series for all Fellows that provides a high level overview of trauma-informed support and implementation strategies for the classroom. The PD sequence includes four modules:
  1. Understanding the Brain - Wed 10/19
  2. Understanding Ourselves - Wed 11/16
  3. Classroom Implementation - Wed 1/8
  4. Prioritizing Wellbeing - Wed 2/15
All webinars will take place at 6-7pm CST via Zoom. By attending these calls, Fellows will also earn official PD credit toward their required ATC hours. These webinars are designed to be interactive and include lots of breakout groups for peer-to-peer collaboration.

Registration for sessions will close 24 hours before the session begins.

A 12-week learning cohort with your colleagues, where you'll dive deep into the science behind how our brain works, and learn practical strategies for classroom wellbeing. An edwell facilitator will lead a cohort of up to 18 Arkansas Teacher Corps fellows and staff through the year-long brain-based teaching course, including neurobiology basics, safety and connection in learning, experiences that shape our behaivor, role of early systems, and shifting perspectives.

The cohort will meet every other Thursday at 5-6pm for an hour-long seminar. Those dates are 10/20, 11/3, 11/17, 12/1, 1/5, 1/19, 2/2, 2/16, 3/2, 3/16, 3/30, 4/13, and 4/27.
