We had a fantastic first week!
A Note From The Chair
Reportero! Journaliste! Jizhe! Cronista! Penoptep! All these words refer to a “reporter” or a “journalist”.

I am pleased to announce that ElderCollege has a Reporter/Journalist who will attend classes periodically to interview registrants and speakers and facilitators and write a column for our Newsletter.

Please welcome Midge Mason as our inaugural reporter.  You will recognize her with her “Press Pass” badge allowing all-access, just like at a rock concert!  Midge enjoys writing, both text and poetry. Thank you Midge for being a volunteer for ElderCollege.

Kindly welcome her questions and interviews and read all about our classes in upcoming Newsletter issues.

Your Donations in Action

Thanks to the generosity of those who donated funds to ElderCollege, we were able to purchase two new audiovisual kits. Our kits are complete with laptops, projectors, speakers, remote pointers and cables, allowing us to deliver high quality visual presentations in any of our new locations.

Thank you, donors!!

And with all the plans we've got for a full schedule in the Fall, we'd love to be able to get another set. If you are feeling generous knowing that money is being well-spent, donations can be made online or sent as a cheque to our PO Box.

Scenes from the Week

Here's a little selection of scenes from the first week of classes - Beginner's Snowshoeing, Greek Archaeology and Geological Rambles.

If you have some recent ElderCollege photos you'd like to share, please email as a JPEG or PNG format, with your name and where the photo was taken.

Photography Policy

Photos of ElderCollege members enjoying themselves are wonderful for everyone to see, but not everyone is comfortable being photographed. Our policy is simple: if you do not wish to be photographed, simply let the photographer know and remove yourself from the photo.

Fall Planning Underway

We have so many course ideas, many of which have been suggested through our online form, but we need more facilitators to make them happen.

Have you considered becoming an ElderCollege course facilitator, but worried it might be too much work or just too difficult? It's easier than you might think, and we have lots of support in place including working with an experienced partner. If you want to learn more, you can email and we'll give you a call.

Some of the courses that need facilitators to make them happen include: Anthropology, What's News
Français, Geopolitics, Crime & Justice.
