A Note from the Chair

Hau’oli Makakiki Hou, is Hawaiian for Happy New Year!

You might not be in Hawaii for New Years, but you can come close by taking the ukulele lessons at ElderCollege!  Introduced to Hawaii in 1879, this once airport souvenir is now a coveted instrument played around the world. And you too can learn with our new Beginners Ukulele course starting Tuesday, March 8 at our Delbrook location.

Our highly popular What’s News has expanded to four locations: Cedar Springs PARC, Parkgate Library, Westerleigh PARC, and Silver Harbour Centre.  With classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays - you are bound to find a day and time to suit you.

Other classes range from Greek Archaeology to Incredible Journeys to History to TED discussions. You can find a full listing of all our Spring 2016 class offerings on our website

Remember, online registration starts 6am PST on Monday, January 4th.  Start your account now so your registration experience is fast and easy.  Don’t forget Open House is Thursday, January 7th, 9 to 11am at Silver Harbour Centre, where you can speak directly to the course facilitators and learn about the class offerings – and you can register at Open House too!

See you in class!

Registration Day is this Monday!

Counting Down to Registration Day

It probably sounds like I’m repeating myself – I am – because I want you to get into the courses you want! So, if you haven’t already done so, take a few minutes and create a registration account today (here's a guide)!

Then set your alarm! From 6:00 am on Monday, January 4, you can register online. Any computer, anywhere in the world, 24/7. Simply:

  1. Go to the Register page of our website
  2. Click the big blue Register button
  3. Log-in to your registration account
  4. Pick the courses you want
  5. Check-out and pay.

You will receive an emailed confirmation of your registration with all the details you will need.

If you’re feeling nervous about what to do, have a read through our registration guide ahead of time. It’s a step-by-step guide to what you can expect during the registration process, where you should click and the information you will receive.

Friends and family may also be able to help you during the process. I’m pretty good with this technology stuff, but even I get help from my kids sometimes!!! And, don’t forget that I’m here to help you too.

If you just can’t register online, give me a call on 778.246.6737 from 9 am until 4 pm, or email me.

And failing that, come along to Open House at Silver Harbour Centre, 9-11 am on Thursday, January 7 and we'll sign you up.

I’m looking forward to an exciting first year with the new ElderCollege!

The Next Steps for our eNewsletter
