Intermediate and middle school teachers will assist if there are concerns regarding existing student accounts. CPS will also be reaching out to parents directly to assist in this process with helpful guides and instructions.

We will try get parents the devices during the instructional materials pick up time. Parents will now enter through the playground entrance and exit on Bell. Remote Learning Parent Information Sessions
We look forward to sharing our Coonley specific plans with our community this week. We will be using the Google Platform (Google Meet) for these virtual meetings. These meetings can be accessed from any device but depending on the device you may need to prepare (example: maybe you might need to download the Google Meet app to your phone).
Grade Level Parent Remote Learning Information Sessions
There will be slight variation based on the grade level departmentalization. Most grade levels will meet together first then separate into smaller classroom meetings. Please join the collective meeting first then you will directed in the virtual meeting to join your specific classroom Google Meet. We will share information on our enrichment introductions later in the week. Our focus of these virtual information sessions is to present our plans, schedules, and logistics for remote learning. We are still planning to have curriculum focused open houses later in September once remote learning routines are established.

We wanted to give parents options for school form completion. There are PDFs linked to each of the following forms. Parents can print them, complete them, and drop them off during student materials pick up Wednesday-Friday. We will have blank forms available for pick up when you are picking up supplies as well. Please do not complete the forms during your pick up time because this will slow the process and create unsafe situations. You can scan forms and email them to Ms. Quiros as well (mramos3@cps,edu). If you are planning to email please put your child's name and "forms" in the subject of the email.
* Please make sure that you write the student's name and room number and sign the form. We need one form from each family even if they do not qualify (write NA).

Coonley Universal Lunch
Coonley has tried to be creative with scheduling to fit the our new remote setting. We have provided students with the ability to focus on only 2 enrichments per quarter. We have also instituted a universal Coonley lunch. This will be impossible once we are sharing our lunchroom in the future but for now we can all eat lunch at the same time from 12:35-1:30 pm. Our grade levels will schedule movement and snack breaks throughout the day but we thought it might be nice for siblings and parent/caregivers to all have a set break each day.
Update on CPS Internet Assistance
Over the summer CPS began offering high-speed internet access at no cost to approximately 100,000 CPS students from limited-income backgrounds through our Chicago Connected initiative. Families eligible for this program have been contacted individually, and 35 community-based organizations are working to get students connected prior to the start of the school year. Families can check their eligibility for the program and access their activation code by simply entering their child’s student ID number and birthdate into the CPS eligibility tool at cps.edu/chicagoconnected. If you are not eligible for this program CPS also offers a host of other ways that families can access internet services.
During the 2020-2021 school year, we will be adjusting the format of our enrichment classes. In order to fit both remote and hybrid structures we will be offering more condensed enrichment courses. Students will have daily one hour enrichments. Students will have only two enrichments per quarter. This structure will ensure that all Coonley students receive equitable amounts of all Coonley enrichments and provide a smooth transition to a hybrid model. This format also allows Coonley families to focus on only two enrichments per quarter.
All grade levels will be utilizing Google Classroom as an instructional platform. We hope this will streamline instruction and provide families with consistency.
