Good Old Sport Update!
Yesterday, we reported that pubescent golfers Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler would be paired with TBD celebrities to play in the first primetime golf exhibition in over ten years. Those celebrities have just been revealed to be Justin Timberlake and Mark Wahlberg, which figures to provide us with an '80s vs. '90s pop-star battle extravaganza!

The Main Event
WHAT?
The 2024 Los Angeles Olympic Bid Committee unveiled the logo and slogan they hope will become the face of crippling, post-Olympic debt for Southern California.

WHAT ELSE?
LA's mantra will be "Follow The Sun," which is appropriately accompanied by a logo (pictured) that was designed to represent the sun and the "City of Angels." They couldn't have reached for lower hanging fruit by playing up the "City of Angels" angle, but what the hell else were they going to do, go for a more realistic representation by having the logo be a giant cloud of smog? Besides, it's only a semi-shitty logo in a long line of very shitty Olympic logos. Take the London 2012 Summer Olympics logo for example. It looks like an eight-year-old made it out of a Tangram puzzle.

THOUGHTS?
In any case, LA has officially sharpened its spear for what figures to be a long, expensive battle against Paris, Rome, and Budapest for the right to host the 2024 games, with the bid alone costing up to $55 million. LA's Olympic bid strategy, which was published this week, revealed plans to leverage existing venues to offset costs. A cute idea, no doubt, but considering it's going to cost upwards of $6 billion to host the games, the city better hope their ROE lands like Mayor Eric Garcetti thinks it will, or Johnny Taxpayer might be left footing the bill.

HEART OF A LIONEL
Barcelona FC striker Lionel Messi is a record-setting fool. He scored his 300th and 301st La Liga (Spanish soccer league) goals during Barcelona’s 3-1 win over Sporting de Gijón. He became the first player in history to score 300 La Liga goals, and his 301st strike was Barcelona’s 10,000th goal in club history

RAY RICE AWARD
And this week’s “Ray Rice Memorial Domestic Violence Award” goes to… former Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball! The details of his February 5th arrest were released, which state that Ball threw his girlfriend into a table during an argument. This is the first nomination, and win, for Ball. Congrats!

IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE
UFC fighter Wanderlei Silva received a three-year suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission for dodging a drug test in 2014. He ran out of his own gym when officials showed up to collect a cup of piss, which Silva was certain would test positive for a banned substance. Initially slapped with a lifetime ban, the three-year suspension should come as a sigh of relief for Silva. Given his nicknames of “The Axe Murderer” and “Cachorro Louco (Mad Dog),” we should all be relieved Silva made it through his roid-rage fits without killing anybody.

(Dis)Honorable Mention: The Sacramento Kings fired assistant coach Vance Walberg because they're an underachieving disgrace.
