Transgendered Tongan 'leitis' finding their way in the conservative country
While transgenders in Australia typically exist on the periphery of society, in the Kingdom of Tonga, they sit close to the king – or wait on his table, at least, writes Peter Munro.
We spot Mataele sitting at a table reserved for dignitaries, dressed in a snug fuchsia twinset with two strings of white pearls and her dark hair in a bun. She greets me with a light kiss. The fact that she was born a man hasn't dented her standing in high society..

Australia Christians for Marriage Equality.
Many LGBTI Australians are on edge today waiting for the outcome of the High Court challenge. I am particularly conscious of Christian LGBTI people who are hearing hurtful and untrue messages that their relationships are not worthy of legal protection, social recognition or God's blessing. Remember you are "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Ps 139) and you are not alone.

High Court gives the green light to Turnbull Government’s same sex marriage
With only six days before ballots are due to be mailed to millions of voters, the High Court has struck down an attempt to brand the same-sex marriage postal vote unconstitutional.

Representatives of regional civil society organisations including private sector representatives started the third day of the Pacific Islands Forum week with a dialogue with Pacific Leaders.
Civil society had four speakers - Isikeli Vulavou from Pacific Sexual Diversity Network, Fiji; Mori Mori from Chuuk Youth Council, FSM; Kaisarina Salesa from Samoa National Youth Council / Pacific Coordinating Mechanism for CSOs; and Maina from Tuvalu Climate Action Network - who covered three broad thematic areas: the Blue Pacific Economy – the ocean at the heart of sustainable development; the Pacific Tsunami of NCDs – the killer of our People of the Ocean; and People at the heart of a Secure and Peaceful Blue Pacific.
