Project Updates

Kenya

The KEK project team has successfully completed the approval process for the monitoring report, continuing implementation report, and well assessment report. This means that the team is approved for travel to Kenya in 2019. The team is currently working on selecting travel dates, flights, and finalizing travel logistics. The KEK Clean Water Program is located near Rongo, Kenya in the East Kanyamamba community (a community of 1600 people). For more information, please contact Laura Byrd at laura.byrd@jacobs.com.

Panama

The panama team has been waiting for a response to questions sent to the community about the pipeline realignment they requested. No response has been received yet because they have been busy or gone over the holidays.  The team hopes to have a clear plan moving forward with the pipeline realignment by the end of January.  For more information or any questions,  email Michelle Kolb at michelle55kolb@gmail.com.

Belize

The Belize team has received approval from National to travel to Sarteneja, after submitting their final pre-trip Outreach Implementation Report. The team is currently preparing for the April 2019 trip, in which efforts will be focused on flood-proofing structures in the most vulnerable areas of the Village. The travel team also hopes to meet with the Belize Ministry of Works to discuss the availability of large equipment and the original technical plan. Sarteneja, Belize is a community of about 3,000 people who suffer major loss from flooding each year. For more information, please contact Mandy Ott at mandyland07@gmail.com

Santa Rosa Tiny Homes
The Sacramento EWB chapter has partnered with the Denizen/Wyck Housing Group to support the structural design of tiny homes for those displaced by last year's fires in Santa Rosa. If you have a structural background and are interested in being involved with the project, please email Patrick Donovan at Patrick.donovan@jacobs.com
