Happy 2016! It has been almost one year since the inception of BIGVISION and with the help and support of our Community, we have accomplished so much this past year!

INDOOR ROCK CLIMBING

BIGVISION continues to host fun sober events and in December, we took to new heights and tried indoor rock climbing at Brooklyn Boulders. It was intimidating at first, but we conquered our fears and made it to the top, participating in both team and individual challenges. We look forward to visiting Brooklyn Boulders again in February!

CHRISTMAS EVE/FEEDING THE HUNGRY

On Christmas Eve, some of the BIGVISION community members lent a hand with City Harvest at the Prince Hall Mobile Market in Washington Heights. We helped sort, bag and distribute food to hundreds of people. It was such a great feeling to give back and there will be more volunteering opportunities to come!

SKILLS TRAINING/CULINARY ARTS

This month, we teamed up with Great Performances, an exclusive catering company in New York City, to host a cooking class. Participants broke up in to teams to learn how to make a Mexican feast, then we shared our delicious dinner. We would like to thank Liz Neumark and the rest of the Great Performances team for putting together such a wonderful night.

CRAFT SKILLS/KNITTING

Our fourth Night of Knitting class with knitting expert, Laurie Kimmelstiel was also held in January. Aside from boosting self-esteem, the many health benefits and stress reducing effects of knitting are more than enough reason to learn how to knit! The progress over the last four classes has been exceptional!

IN THE NEWS

BIGVISION has recently garnered media attention, as well! We would like to share two articles that highlight our organization. Please read them here: First Five Things To Do After Rehab and Mom Has Big Vision. We were also featured on ABC's Rhode Island affiliate for participating in the Wipe the Face of Addiction challenge, created by Transforming Youth Recovery and Doors to Recovery. Read more about it here!

Max Hirsh, our Outreach Coordinator and Outdoor Activity Leader, was featured on George Bettinger’s radio show. Click here to listen to Max speak about our organization.

UPGRADED WEBSITE

Finally, we have made some upgrades to our website, www.bigvision.nyc! You can now see all the above articles, past newsletters, and access a calendar to our upcoming events! As always, please refer to our Facebook Community page, BIGVISION Community, for up-to-date information about events and follow us on Instagram, BIGVISION_NYC. Please also note that we've moved to a larger office within our building! Our new address is 291 Broadway, Suite 1503, New York, NY 10007.

We thank you for your continued support for BIGVISION. Your help is already making a difference in those striving to live happy, healthy and substance-free lives.

Best,
Eve Goldberg and the BIGVISION Family
