March 2019

With Easter on the horizon, we're heading east this month as we take a closer look at the holy-grail of travel - so called ABC itineraries that offer families adventure, beach and culture. No two trips are ever the same and each itinerary we create is a reflection of the family travelling, but experience tells us that ticking these boxes goes a good way towards creating the kind of holiday memories that will still make you smile when you're 80!

Look out for our brand new destinations - Coastal Cambodia is trending and we're all for an island sojourn as an add-on to temples, Khmer culture and cycling around the Mekong Delta. There's also a lot of interest in Japan, host of rugby’s biggest tournament from 20 September to 2 November, followed soon after by the 2020 Tokyo Olympics!

Coast & Culture:
Singapore to Cambodia via Vietnam

This exciting itinerary includes not one, not two but three fascinating and contrasting Asian destinations, giving you your fill of compelling culture, tantalising ancient temples, fast-paced city-life, lush green rural scenery and luxurious beach time on your very own tropical island complete with white sand and turquoise waters.
Summer in Sri Lanka with Young Adventurers
For a brilliant first family foray into Asia, this 11 night itinerary ticks all the boxes. With enough culture, adventure and fun to keep your young adventurers endlessly entertained, we've also allowed for some well-deserved beach fun and relaxation.
Thai Jungle & Beach

For a family holiday with added spice, head to tropical Thailand, where you can enjoy rainforest fun, elephant encounters and down-time on white sand beaches, straight out of a National Geographic spread.

Wild About Borneo
Discover pristine rainforests as you accompany your guide in search of wild orangutans and pygmy elephants. Cool off with a snorkel in warm waters teeming with marine life or kick back and relax on glorious golden beaches. With July and August offering favourable weather conditions, Borneo offers so much more than a beach flop.
Cambodia takes top spot as World's Hottest New Beach Destination

Cambodia’s Islands are hot! Featured in The Wall Street Journal as “The World’s Hottest New Beach Destination”, hotel openings include Alila Villas Koh Russey on a gorgeous beach, Six Senses Krabey Island, and a new Tamu Resort on spectacular Koh Rong. Combine with Siem Reap, an easy one-hour flight away, for a cultural extravaganza and this is a destination that really does offer it all.

Start planning your holiday to Cambodia!

It's tricky understanding when to travel where in Asia with so many weather variations but these are our recommendations for a safe bet:

Best for Easter
Head to Japan to experience the delicate spring cherry blossom. With little rainfall and clear skies it's a great time to explore. Tokyo Disneyland and Universal Studios Japan both lay on extra fun to celebrate Easter even though it's low-key elsewhere.

Thailand will be hot, but Songkran, the country's famous water festival, which marks the beginning of the Thai New Year gives you the excuse to cool off! You’re guaranteed to end up soaked but you’ll have lots of fun in the process!

Best for Summer
For family adventure and memorable wildlife encounters we can't get enough of Borneo and summer is a great time to visit. Be enthralled by the sight of orangutans in the wild!

Our summer months are the best time to visit the East Coast of Sri Lanka and renowned Yala NP. Don't miss the fascinating Buddhist Perahera festival in Kandy which takes place every August.

Best for Christmas
If there's a little bit of Indiana Jones in you, you'll love Cambodia with its fascinating temples, that make for a vastly superior game of hide-and-seek! Go at Christmas and you can enjoy the sunny, dry weather!

For a modern history class with a difference, the lush paddy fields of Vietnam beckon – go in our winter months and you can explore Hanoi and the Cu Chi Tunnels before heading to Phu Quoc for beach-time!
