Global Advocacy Update
We are pleased to announce that IDC has been invited to co-lead a working group focused on alternatives to immigration detention for the UN Network on Migration, alongside UNHCR and UNICEF. This group will commence in early 2020, and will bring together relevant stakeholders at the global, regional and national level to discuss strategies for the implementation of alternatives! What a year!

  • There Are Alternatives: Africa and the Community Assessment and Placement (CAP) Model are now available in Arabic.
  • SUKA Society has released a new video on their Community Placement and Case Management Programme. 
Barbara joins the Europe team as IDC's first Europe Programme Officer. She's documented migration laws in dozens of countries, and coordinated research in the Middle East and Europe.
Florence joins the Africa team as IDC's Africa Programme Officer. She's worked for IOM Namibia's Counter Trafficking Unit, and senior level social work for the Namibian Government. 
Carla joins us as IDC's Communications Officer. She's previously worked with IDC on a project basis. She now joins the comms team to support overarching communications strategies. 
Champa joins us as a new member of IDC's board. She leads the Asia Pacific Programme at Chatham House, and previously worked as a regional director for Amnesty International. 
On behalf of the board and staff, we offer them a warm welcome to the IDC team!
