The stumps of Flattop Hill
This week I present you a book for older children created by Kenneth Kit Lamug. It's a dark tale, great for campfire reads. I love the simple monotone illustration style. The fact that it's written in rhymes pushes kid's imagination even further. The story tells a tale of a little girl named Florence, that enters a haunted house out of curiosity. The story talks about strength and facing fears. I believe it's important to teach children that the world can be a scary place, but that this shouldn't limit them to explore and embrace whatever comes. I absolutely love this studio in the UK, they make fantastic apps and books for children. Their style has great texture and an amazing color pallet, plus it's super entertaining. Their content is directed at children ages of 0 to 14. They produce original content as well as re-purpose traditional tales and give them an interesting twist. This cute dinosaur toy uses IBM's Watson artificial intelligence as a brain. The toy will adjust its content and experience based on your child's vocabulary level. It is designed for children of age range between 5 to 9. This toy is currently available to speak and understand English. Another cool feature is, parents can view the child's engagement on the parent panel or add restrictions such as bedtime settings and more. This is truly an evolution for toys and how children can learn through technology. Check out their video below:
"How little people can make a big difference" by Charlie Cooper talks about his creation of a buddy bench that creates a happy place for children. His simple idea helps create a safe atmosphere in schools where kids are encouraged to use positive play. Such a fantastic idea from this little brilliant mind. Check out the video below:
This week I would like to introduce "Mae", another character of my upcoming children's book. She is a graceful mermaid who is constantly helping clean and protect the oceans. Her value-driven superpower is compassion. She is passionate about swimming and singing. Her purpose is to create healthy communities that help protect nature.
