Precision Ag Workshop Invitation

AIR EP, in conjunction with SPAA and Pinion Advisory, are hosting a GRDC funded Precision Ag workshop for farmers in Cleve on 16 February, 9am-3pm.

An interactive workshop facilitated by Adrian Roles (AgTrak). Participants will learn how to get the most out of Precision Agriculture tools on their farm.

This hands-on workshop will cover:

  • Is PA right for me? Review the fundamentals of PA
  • Identifying, quantifying and managing variable production constraints
  • Producer case studies (benefits and lessons learnt)
  • Tips and tricks for data management
  • Hands-on field exercise and simulation

This workshop is suitable for farmers in the early stages of their PA journey, although all are welcome.

A second workshop will follow later in the year, with the timing and topics based on feedback from participants.

Trade and Market Access Workshops

GPSA will be hosting a full day of FREE interactive sessions tailor made to assist grower’s understanding of trade and market access barriers, requirements, and diversification opportunities. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with industry experts on everything from how to best manage phytosanitary barriers to trade, to tips on diversifying grain markets.

Registration is FREE but limited due to COVID-19 restrictions with lunch and refreshments provided.

Position vacant: Sustainable Agriculture Consultant, PIRSA

The Department of Primary Industries and Regions is seeking a suitably qualified person to join Rural Solutions SA’s team on Eyre Peninsula in the role of Sustainable Agriculture Consultant (PO1) Project Officer, Sustainable Agriculture.

The role will be based in PIRSA’s Port Lincoln office and will work with land managers, farming systems groups, agri-business, industry bodies and agencies in the delivery of a wide range of Sustainable Agriculture Projects as well as contributing to the delivery of key PIRSA priorities in the region. 

This role will commence as soon as possible and is offered as a short term (2 year) contract.

Family Support Program

GrainGrowers is pleased and excited to launch the Family Support Program. Run by Benestar, this program offers support to all growers on any aspect of farming life that they might need. Legal, administration, finance and well-being issues are all addressed in this program.

Strengthening Rural Communities - Small & Vital
These grants offer an opportunity for regional Australia to access support for:
  • Delivering activities, programs and services;
  • Purchasing or hiring equipment and materials;
  • Community infrastructure projects;
  • Operational and administrative costs associated with your project will be considered.

The General Jeffery Soil Health Award recognises the efforts of the people who are caring for our land and honours the exceptional work of Australia’s first National Soils Advocate, the late Major General the Honourable Michael Jeffery, AC, AO (Mil), CVO, MC (Retd), who passed away late last year.

The award is open to any individual farmer, land manager, extension specialist or educator who is making an exceptional contribution to soil health in Australia. The winner will be sponsored to attend in person, the National Landcare Awards Gala Dinner where they will receive a trophy and a cash prize of $20,000.

The award is supported by the Office of the National Soils Advocate within the Australian Government Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Webinar | The importance of regenerative agriculture practices, key Earth systems and the Anthropocene crisis

EIANZ invites you to attend our upcoming webinar on the importance of regenerative agriculture practices, key Earth systems and the Anthropocene crisis.
In this webinar Charles Massy will discuss the basics and importance of regenerative agriculture practices and how these have huge implications for addressing key Earth systems and the Anthropocene crisis (biodiversity, water, land-use, climate, integrated Phosphorous-nitrogen cycles, soil etc.). He will also discuss the implications of healthy food, off healthy landscapes for human and animal health.
The webinar will be recorded. A link to access the recording will be sent to all registered participants after the webinar.
Date:  Tuesday 9 February 2020. The webinar will begin at 12:30pm in SA.
