Back to School

The Agua Viva School is highly regarded for academic excellence in a Christian environment. Our teachers seek to pass along a passion for learning to students whose families live in poverty. We are blessed to have over 300 students enrolled in elementary and middle school for 2016.

A high percentage of our students need a least a partial scholarship to attend the Agua Viva School. We need your help to make these scholarships possible. Please consider partnering with us by providing financial assistance to one or more of our students. For $35/month, you can help provide a brighter future to an underprivileged child. If interested please contact our Scholarship Coordinator.

New Uniforms - Thank You!

We want to thank those who donated funds to help purchase new school uniforms for the children from the home. We are grateful for all the friends who partner with us to care for these children. Thank you!

Keeping Families Together

We love it when God allows us to keep brothers and sisters together. Irma, Flory, Luis and Pablo, all from the same family, arrived here several years ago and though the boys and girls can’t stay in the same house, they seek each other out to play and sit together as a family whenever possible.

Flory and Irma love getting their photo taken together every chance they get. They are thankful that they get to stay together in Casa Ester. These two sisters are so sweet and Irma, the oldest, is always helping her sister Flory with her homework and making sure nobody picks on her. They love to dress in matching clothes and share their belongings with each other.
Pablo and Luis live together in Casa David. They have their beds next to each other and whenever Pablo has a bad dream he goes to his brother for comfort. They love playing cars and climbing trees to throw fruit down to each other. Though Luis admitted that he likes giving his little brother a hard time, he is always there to share with and protect him as well.

Meet Our Newest Additions

Jonathan (13), Angel (12), and Ever (12) arrived in early January and are adjusting well to life at Agua Viva. Please pray for these boys, that their physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs would be met to the glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Cultural Event

This past month, board members from the Guatemala Children’s Mission visited Agua Viva as part of their annual meeting. The children at the home worked hard all week to clean their houses, pick up any trash outside, and look their very best. Students at the school shared a presentation that included cultural songs and dances and a performance by our school orchestra. There were even a few fireworks! The 5th grade class performed the national anthem of the United States in English and were especially excited and proud. As the pictures above indicate, their smiles were contagious!

Scholarship Story: Flor

Flor started attending the Agua viva middle school last year. She was excited to receive a scholarship to allow her to continue her studies as there is no other middle school near her home. Flor lives on the edge of town where her mother and older brother work hard to support the family, yet they still live well below the poverty level.

Flor appreciates that the teachers at Agua Viva explain the lessons until she understands the material. Her favorite class is English and she hopes that learning English will help her get a better job one day. If you would like to provide a scholarship to a student like Flor, please contact our Scholarship Coordinator.

New Photo Prayer Sheets

We covet the prayers of our friends and supporters on behalf of the children at Agua Viva. To help those who want to pray for specific children by name during the year, we have created a photo prayer sheet. You can join us in prayer and download your own copy below.
