SHL Volunteer Activity: Feeding the Homeless
Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 12:45 PM
Mall Park 68 Columbus St. · Charleston, SC
Dear <<First Name>>,
Many of the Secular Humanists of the Lowcountry's regular activities (our monthly meetings at Gage Hall, the book club meetings at B&N, etc.) are on "summer break" and will resume in September. We also did not expect to have any volunteer activities for a while. However, we were contacted by the organizers of The Potluck in the Park, a charitable activity which feeds the poor and homeless each Sunday in downtown Charleston, asking us to please help them out next Sunday August 5th.
We have done this activity many times and it is always good to feel as if we made a real difference in the lives of those people we are able to help. SHL members bring the food and help serve. Potluck in the Park provides tables, and table cloths, chaffing dishes, plastic gloves and water.
If you can help by providing food or beverages, please RSVP and sign up for what you can bring at Sign-up Genius here. It is okay to just drop it off and not stay to serve if you like.
Alternatively, you can just show up without any food and just stay to help serve!
We set up at 12:45 under the white pergola (see photo below) and start serving at 1 pm. Kids and teens welcome! Please join us!
Please help us fulfill this urgent request from the organizers of the Potluck in the Park, and feel free to respond to this e-mail with any questions you may have.
Hoping to see you there,
