Cancelled

COVID-19 presents a significant risk to older people and those with underlying health conditions. People can be infected without symptoms, we have known cases in Charleston, and very few people have been tested.

As humanists, we rely on science and reason to guide our actions. Humans are social creatures, and take cues from those around us. We would prefer to be overly cautious than to contribute to the spread of the disease throughout the community. We hope this example will encourage community members to take the virus seriously even if the illness presents little threat to themselves.

As a community, we also want to maintain connections to each other. Currently, small gatherings and outdoor events are less likely to contribute to community spread. We’d love suggestions about ways we could enjoy virtual gatherings.
