Unnecessary Antibiotic Presciptions

 

New CDC data show that one in three antibiotic prescriptions prescribed in doctors' offices and emergency departments is unnecessary-especially relating to respiratory conditions caused by viruses such as common colds, viral sore throats, bronchitis, and sinus and ear infections, as they do not respond to antibiotics. Researchers also found a large percentage of antibiotics is misused in outpatient settings for adults and children.
