Denise Nekeman and Boston STH during the Freestyle for Young Riders at the Dutch championships.

Are you looking for a champion for the future? Prinsjesdag Foal Auction already auctioned many in the past and last Sunday shared in the great joy of Dutch Champion Young Riders, Denise Nekeman. Her 9-yr-old Boston STH (Johnson x Quattro, breeder J.W. Temmink from Vorden), sold via Prinsjesdag Foal Auction Prinsjesdag, danced with superior strength through the ring in Ermelo and proved unbeatable with 76.70%.
This year the selection committee managed to pick out several potential dressage champions again, such as two half-brothers to Boston STH. On Sunday sire Glock’s Johnson TN won silver at the NC for seniors with 82.13% in the Freestyle to Music and so assured himself of a place in the team for the EC under Hans Peter Minderhoud. Last year the impressive son of Jazz had also been part of the gold-winning team at the World Equestrian Games in Caen.
The Johnson sons to be auctioned are out of Vertu Heroique (Gribaldi) and First Lady (Negro).  The elite-awarded mare Vertu Heroique, a half-sister to the NRPS licensed stallion Suarez (Sandreo), is the champion of the dressage mares at the Central Selection of Overijssel in 2005. First Lady is a 5-yr-old elite-awarded mare out of the Z2-level dressage mare Adelaide (Tuschinski), who is a half-sister to the Grand Prix dressage horse Lester (Triton) of the Finnish Pia Verjonen. Her grandam Fantasie (Ramiro Z) performed at Z1-level in dressage and is a half-sister to the Small Tour dressage horse Doreen (Ulster).

Brother of Erludine DVB
One of the auction foals is a direct son of Jazz, bred out of the elite-awarded Zarludine (Ferro x Rubinstein). He is a full brother of the highly talented National Mares Selection mare Erludine DVB, who scored 86 points for her IBOP and last year won two Subli Cup pre-selection competitions with 88 and 88.4 points and finished sixth in the Pavo Cup. Zarludine also produced the 5-yr-old dressage talent and VSN finalist Four Seasons (Vivaldi).
The auction collection also contains four foals bred out of Jazz daughters.

Four by Negro
The blood of the Olympic stallion Ferro also regularly occurs in the collection, if only via the four colts by his son Negro. One of these was bred out of the celebrated Zhara Obertje (Jazz), who in 2007 was the champion of the National Mares Selection. This full sister of the Grand Prix dressage stallion Tango has meanwhile been placed at Prix St.Georges level. Equally interesting is the Negro out of Glamour-Esther SVN (Totilas), which scored 80/80 at the studbook selection and finished fifth in the Central Selection. Glamour-Esther SVN, bred out of the line of the Grand Prix mare Sisther de Jeu, is a half-sister of four Small Tour and two Z1-level horses.
In addition, Negro occurs twice as dam’s sire, in an earlier mentioned Johnson foal and a filly by Lord Leatherdale out of the ster- and preferent-awarded Urona (Negro). This Urona already produced an international junior horse: Corona (Tuschinski) ridden by the Belgian Kate Wiggins.
More than 70 licensed stallions originate from De Niro (Donnerhall).
Five by De Niro
Prinsjesdag offers no less than five foals by the German champion stallion De Niro, such as the colt by De Niro out of the Jazz daughter Tsarina B. She is a half-sister to the Grand Prix dressage mare Reine B from a mares line that carries an abundance of dressage genes. There are another two products with an interesting background out of the dam’s line of the Grand Prix dressage mare Nadine and the licensed Dorado: Coosje by Johnson is responsible for the only filly by De Niro, Gerard Vervoorn presents a colt out of Bertolonia by Santano.
Another one worth mentioning is the product from Pegasus Stables. This filly by Don Schufro is the dream for every dressage horse breeder and rider. Dam Borendy by Painted Black is directly related to top-class dressage horses and licensed stallions Zuidenwind, Zhivago and Charmeur.

For the second year in succession Prinsjesdag organises the photograph and video days at Horse Sport Centre Gert van den Hoorn in Kootwijk. On Friday 31 July and Saturday 1 August the organisation is expecting almost a 100 foals to be immortalized.
For interested parties these days already offer an opportunity to view the collection of Prinsjesdag. On Friday 31 July there will be mostly showjumping foals, on Saturday 1 August mostly dressage foals. The dates mentioned in the last Newsletter were the wrong ones, unfortunately. For practical reasons it is possible that in individual cases the planning will be adapted.
The photograph and video days are no longer selection moments for Prinsjesdag. The collection has become definite by then and there is no room for extra foals. Because this was, in fact, also the case last year, it has already been decided now that the last selection day will be cancelled.
