In order to offer even better service to buyers and sellers, the board of Foalauction Prinsjesdag decided to extend the auction with another day. The showjumping foals are auctioned on Tuesday 13 September and the next day, Wednesday 14 September, the dressage foals.

This new format removes a lot of pressure from the time schedule, which will offer more time and a more relaxed atmosphere for the presentation of the foals and the ever more important veterinary assessment. Arjan van der Waaij, chairman of Foalauction Prinsjesdag, believes that extending the auction with another day offers many advantages. “The fact is that on the auction day we have to fight against the clock from early morning to late at night. Now we spread the auction over two days, we can perhaps also accept a few extra foals, provided that they meet the high selection criteria, of course”, he explains.

On both days the foals will be presented to the buyers in the middle of the afternoon and the auction will start at the beginning of the evening. It is a choice we had to make, we have grown enormously over the past few years precisely because we made clear choices. For the breeders this is also a clear signal: both for the dressage and the showjumping foals Prinsjesdag Foal Auction offers a worthy platform where top-class quality is offered to an international public”, says Van der Waaij.

The first selection days are scheduled in May. The committee wil again be searching for the best foals for the Foalauction Prinsjesdag. This year the 24th edition of the auction will take place. On the website you can find the schedule of the selection days, mid-April the final schedule will be online.

The selection committee tries to create a special collection every year. A collection that meets our motto:'The power of performance.' The selection places are geographically well distributed to select, also this year, the best foals. Also this year we will visit Belgium and Germany to select foals.

The very talented 4-year-old stallion Heavy Metal has been approved by the BWP last weekend. Heavy Metal is sired by Eldorado van de Zeshoek out of a dam by Numero Uno and was sold at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag in 2012. Last year, Heavy Metal was already awarded as champion of the sBs Stallion Show.

Heavy Metal was bred by Evert Meijer and Gerard Lindeboom out of the mare Whisper Queen - a full sister to Leon Thijssen's world-famous showjumper Tyson. Heavy Metal was one of the eye catchers at last year's sBs Stallion Show and was awarded as champion with the highest score. Also the judges of the BWP liked Heavy Metal and approved him. The Belgian stud Krismar Stables owns this very talented son of Eldorado van de Zeshoek.

Foal Auction Prinsjesdag congratulates breeders Evert Meijer and Gerard Lindeboom and owner Krismar Stables with this great success!

After the sale of the embryo by Glock’s Zonik out of Reine B for 26,000 euro offers another chance to get hold of an embryo out of Reine B. This time the embryo is by Toto jr., who shows a remarkable similarity to his famous sire Totilas. Grand sire is the Grand Prix dressage stallion Desperados, who in 2015 won two individual medals at the EC in Aachen. The only 5-yr-old Toto jr. was the taste-maker of last winter’s KWPN/KNHS stallion competition and several times scores 9.5 and 9 for his basic movements.

The dam of this embryo is the reputable Grand Prix mare Reine B (Rubinstein). Reine B has an Oldenburg brand and has been earned the state premium and elite awards. She claimed many successes up to the highest level under the Dutch Lotje Schoots. Anyone who is familiar with this mares line knows that it has produced numerous (inter)nationally successful dressage horses. In short, this foal-to-be has an unusually high expectation value for the future.

Reine B is the dam of an embryo born in 2006 by the Small Tour and AES licensed stallion Brennus B (Diamond Hit). Brennus B, too, was ridden by Lotje Schoots. Reine B’s daughter Fille de Reine B (Jazz) passed her IBOP in 2014 with 80.5 points.

Reine B is a full sister of the ZZ-Heavy dressage mare Julia B and a half-sister to the Small Tour dressage horses Urchin B and Inca and a Z1-level horse. They are all out of the Z2-level dressage mare Dola (Vincent), who is also grandam of the ZZ-Heavy placed Windsor B, the ZZ-Small Tour dressage mare Zenobia B and four Z1/Z2-level horses.

Closely related are the Small Tour horses Tsarina B and Zeno B. Now that is a sport family!

start auction: Tuesday April 12th, 12.00 hrs

Every month we are going to tell a little bit more about the Board and Committee of the Foalauction Prinsjesdag in the piece of 'let's introduce'. This month we start with Gerard Koks the treasurer of the Foal Auction.

In 2012 Gerard Koks took over from Jos Lighthart as treasurer of  Foalauction Prinsjesdag after he, his brother and two sisters had also taken over his stables in Warmenhuizen in 2010. The main activities of these stables, De Debbehoeve, are livery stables, training and the trade in dressage horses . “I believed that filling a place on the board of Prinsjesdag National Foal Auction would be a fine chance to learn more about and gain more experience in the breeding of dressage horses, an activity that has always interested me.”

“Since 2014 we have been breeding with three to four mares and annually buy two to three foals for rearing and then training to the highest possible level. They are mostly offspring from proven sires that have done well in the sport.”

De Debbehoeve is a family business in which the daily routines are handled by Gerard’s sister Stefanie Koks and stable manager/rider Marije van Thuyl -Tromp. “I divide my time between the family business of the Koks Group in Alkmaar, where I handle the finances, and our stables in Warmenhuizen.”

The Prinsjesdag sold Genetic Black (Jazz x Gribaldi) finished on an excellent third place last weekend in the Horsefood Talent Cup 2016 in Berkel-Enschot. Ridden by Justine Mudde of Magic Stables the black gelding gained an impressive score of 83.5 points and guest rider Danielle van Mierlo gave Genetic Black 85 points after riding him.

Genetic Black is a typical example of a Prinsjesdag product. His pedigree is one to dream of with Jazz as a sire, as a dam’s sire Gribaldi and after that the genes of Ferro. Even more exceptional is the dam line of Genetic Black, since the black gelding is bred out of the full sister of the world-famous Painted Black. Ridden by Justine Mudde, Genetic Black achieved a score of 83.5 points in the first round and then earned 85 points of guest rider Danielle van Mierlo.

In the 4-year-olds class, Hannelinde (Dreamboy x Sunny Boy) ridden by Aihoa Prada Ortiz again made a great impression with a score of 81 points. The winner of the VSN Trophy who will be sold at the Excellent Dressage Sales shortly, finished in sixth place.

The 10-year-old Gigolo III (Cassini II x Chin Chin) achieved some excellent results last week at the three-star Mediterranean Equestrian Tour in Oliva. Ridden by Switzerland’s Rachel Sandoz, Gigolo III jumped to third place in the 1.40m class last Sunday. Last Thursday the pair already finished 5th in a 1.40m class.

Gigolo III has a nice pedigree with Cassini II as a sire and dam’s sire Chin Chin. Dam Wendy W already produced two international show jumpers and is the full sister to the KWPN approved Grand Prix stallion Zélote VDL (Chin Chin x Libero H). Ridden by Rachel Sandoz, Gigolo III is developing very well and has already jumped his first Grand Prix competitions. The strong performances in Oliva give high hopes for the summer season!
