It must have been the mac & cheese...

We have received an overwhelming amount of jokes since last week, so I am assuming you all tried my recipe and it got you thinking!
(Can't say it surprises me)

Welcome back, friends! Stay tuned for the weekly announcements and a few of the jokes at the end! This week we have some more serious updates and I want to give you the head space it deserves. Business first, fun later.

A Letter From Our President & Exec Team

Dear friends in Christ,
Last week, The Lutheran Group promoted an event through the weekly email announcement for an off-Campus event at the University. This event uses an article to ground a discussion over dinner. The article that was discussed at the event and attached to the email we sent out was hurtful for many folks, especially our transgender and non-binary peers. The language used in the article was personally and theologically harmful for some in our community. The mission of our organization is to foster fellowship among Lutheran students, Lutheran faculty, and nearby Lutheran congregations and ministers; to connect Lutheran students with resources to aid their preparation for ministry; to host worship services in the Lutheran tradition; to provide opportunities for study of the Bible and Lutheran theology; and to represent Lutheranism to the seminary community.
Our group is open to all students. Therefore, our executive team wants it to be known that The Lutheran Group at Princeton Seminary does not hold the views presented in the article. We strive to be a welcoming community for all students - Lutheran and Lutheran-sympathizers - where God's love for us and each other is fundamental in our worship, study, and fellowship. Sometimes we fail at fostering this kind of environment. When we do fail, we ask not only for your forgiveness and grace, but for you to hold us accountable in order to foster a community where all can thrive. On behalf of the executive team, we are sorry.
In the future, we will make sure to use our goals as outlined in our constitution as a lens through which we discern what events and articles to include in the emails. As a guideline going forward, we will no longer attach articles to Lowdown emails for events that are not sponsored by The Lutheran Group, unless the executive team deems it necessary. If you wish to receive information regarding Lutheran Campus Ministry Table Talks, I invite you to send an email to You will be put on an email list that will have information on Table Talks and other events.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me ( As always, I am thankful for your partnership in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Holden Evening Prayer

Mondays, 5:45pm, Gambrell Room

Every Monday, we will be meeting in the Gambrell Room for Holden Evening Prayer worship. We want to be clear that this service truly is for everyone! All are welcome. Invite your friends, your family, your dogs (maybe not), and even your local barista to come and worship with us on Mondays! It doesn't stop there! You can sign up to lead the service or help with the music! We can't wait to see you there.

Don't forget that Lutherhaus has now been changed to Saturday BRUNCH! We are super excited about this change and we are hoping that it will be a refreshing change in our Saturday pace.
Brunch will be from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
We had our first Lutherhaus at our Chaplain, Lindsay's apartment and if you missed it, that's ok! We are going to keep this Lutherhaus Brunch idea going!

(Here is a picture of those who were able to attend on Saturday)

For Those Going to LOFT!
Yale is hosting an open mic night on the Saturday everyone is leaving to go back to their schools! This will be a time where students can showcase their work (some examples would be poetry, a sermon, or an essay!) It can be anything that the student is proud of! They are hoping to get at least one student from each school to be represented and to help welcome others to the mic. Time on the stage will be about 5 minutes each, more or less.  Their aim of the open mic is to celebrate all the colorful ways we express ourselves in this world! Start thinking of what talents you will be bringing to open mic night!

Faith Hope Love Event
The New Jersey Synod is hosting a one day event on March 21 from 9 AM-3:30 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hainesport, New Jersey that is called Faith, Hope, and Love. This event is meant to educate! There are resource leaders, lots of storytelling, and worship! You can learn more or register online here. There is $20 fee, but it is our understanding that students can get a discount. Lunch WILL be provided.

If something is not working for you with these emails, please reach out and let me know!

You can contact me personally ( and I can give you more info or answer any questions you might have.

Weekly Fun

I've been holding in (what I think is) a hilarious joke and I really wanted to send you all a Valentine's Day email but I held myself back. (I JUST got this position, I don't need my email privileges taken away in Week 4.)

I wanted to send an email saying I hoped you were all having a great Valentine's Day and that I would try to give you a tip from Luther on how to celebrate. Then I was gonna make a joke on how Luther gives us more disses & jabs than he does love advice (that could be incorrect, I'm not a scholar). So I was just gonna warn you not to call anyone the Antichrist.
(Typing it out, it ended up not being as funny as I thought...)

THANK YOU ALL for your jokes you sent in! Keep them coming!

First joke:

How many Lutherans does it take to change a light bulb?
-Change that light bulb?! Are you kidding me?! My great grandfather installed that bulb and it was sure good enough for him!
Thank you, Josh, for that joke that might hit too close to home for many! :)

Second joke:

Why did the football coach go to the bank?
-TO get his quarter back!!
Submitted by our trusty leader, Zach!

Lord, prepare us for this semester and all of life's experiences. Thank you for how far we have come, and for what is still on its way. Help open our eyes to see our strangers & neighbors as they are, and to love them as You have called us to.
