July Facebook Photo Competition

There was a great set of shots posted to Facebook last month and picking the best photo wasn't easy. Some great landscapes, skiing action and furry heads featured. The winner is this cool shot, from Andrew Hill of Karsten up by the crater, which wins the free weekend's accommodation at Arlberg.

Keep taking photos and post them to our Facebook page - there's a weekend to be won every month until the season closes! Here's the link:

Hot August Night is coming - this weekend - Saturday 15th August!!

Saturday night the 15th of August is party night at Arlberg - Hot August Night! Pack your craziest hats, wigs and 70's kit to wear on the mountain and into the evening! There'll be groovy tunes and swinging dance hits playing late into the night for the club's party animals to get down to. If you're heading to the club this weekend, come along ready to play! Dust off and pack your disco balls, spotlights, strobes and twister mats - let Shannon or Edward know if you can bring something special for Hot August Night!

BOOKINGS UPDATE - READ CAREFULLY!

The committee has carefully considered a wide range of issues surrounding bookings, cancellations and the rolling forward of bookings. Our dedicated bookings officer Linda works extremely hard every week to manage bookings and to assist members with queries. There's a large and unnecessary workload being created by a limited number of members not self-managing bookings and defaulting to a call or email at the first hurdle.  The committee wish to remind all members that the Booking Officer role is voluntary and not a professional Help Desk.

Members should do their very best to work through the booking system themselves or with the assistance of another member. Try not to call or email Linda unless absolutely necessary.

Cancellations and changes in booking dates should be made through the booking system. There's no need to call Linda and ask her to undertake this task on your behalf.

  • Bookings may be cancelled up to four days before the booking commences  eg by 8pm on the Monday night prior to a Friday booking. The refund for that  booking will be made at the end of the season, less 3%, which is the payment processing fee taken by Paypal.
  • Bookings may be rolled forward up to four days before the booking commences eg by 8pm on the Monday night prior to a Friday booking. There's no cost to rebook.

So if your plans change or the weather is looking grim, it's better to roll the booking forward in the system than to cancel. You do have the option to cancel this re-booking at a later stage of course, but it must be 4 days before the re-booked accommodation period commences.

RACE WEEKEND RE=SCHEDULED TO SEPTEMBER 26TH

As the weather didn't cooperate last month, the race weekend is being repeated in September. This is first and foremost a FUN event for all members at all skill levels. There is a chance that a bit of competitive spirit will kick in for more than a few and that's fine. There'll no doubt be a few wagers beforehand and a few stories to tell afterwards as a result!

So young and old, fresh and fast can all give it a crack and hit the slopes for the Arlberg Race Weekend

GAMES AND BOOKS NEEDED!

The club can use a refresh on board games and books, so if you have surplus (and complete!) games, jigsaws etc, they'll put to good use. The same for good quality books - bring them down, the club library needs them.
