We hope that our market can offer foods that are suitable for religious holidays and that help to promote a healthy planet into the future. Thank you for being you, and for letting us know what products and methods you appreciate. We'll continue to try to do the best job we can describing what we have and how it was grown.

Food Hub Customer Spotlight

We are excited to add High Point Restaurant in Monteagle to our growing list of food hub customers. High Point chef, Eric Gipson, recognizes that the great food starts with the best ingredients. Menu items featuring our local products include: Veal chop with flash sautéed Fiery Fungi blue oyster mushrooms and caramelized shallot cream; Striped Marlin with Dijon glaze and micro mustard greens from Farmer Browns Hydroponics; and the goat cheese appetizer pictured below. Farmer Brown's lettuce is also featured in their Bibb salad.

New Goat Cheese Appetizer Special: Locally-made Humble Heart Farms French goat cheese, tossed in crispy bread crumbs and lightly fried. Served over arugula and balsamic glaze, with roasted red pepper coulis.

Local Food and Farm Events

Farm Day at Sequatchie Cove Farm Tomorrow:

Sequatchie Cove Farm and Creamery will be having a farm day tomorrow (April 23rd) from 9-12 am central time. Bring a picnic lunch, your family, and friends and enjoy a farm tour and cheese tasting! Come see the pigs and cows out on fresh pasture, chickens roaming around, all the beautiful flowers blooming, and chat with the farmers and cheese makers!  Our Trading Post will be OPEN and we will have Beef, Pork, Lamb, Eggs, Pet Milk, Cheese, and some Vegetables for Sale. Also, there will be some Native Spring Ephemerals and Native Ferns for Sale from Dancing Fern Nursery!!! Check out their website for more information!

STRAWBERRIES!
We welcome Turner and Sons from McMinnville to the market this week! Turner is known for producing some of the best strawberries around - large, fresh, delicious and sweet! Quarts and gallons are available for order this weekend. Enjoy the best flavor spring offers!
 
Farmer Brown's in McMinnville is pleased to announce 3 new lettuces this week: Freckles (the name speaks for itself), a Beautiful Romaine (that will be in limited supply due to time it takes to reach market size), and a new 2 head combo (they planted a Green Crisp and Red Oakleaf together so that customers could get a combo in a single unit). Each one is uniquely different. Some of their standard varieties of lettuce are back on the market this week as well. They also have a selection of live herb plants including Basil in both Green and "Black" varieties, Arp Rosemary, Lemon Thyme and Greek Oregano (hardy in this zone). All are in the 4" pots but they do also have some gallon sizes available.
 
Humble Heart Farms from Limestone County Alabama has many flavors of goat cheese available this week. You can find them by clicking on the dairy category.
 
Bountiful Harvest from McMinnville has numerous new vegetable offerings thanks to some warm spring weather. Look for green onions, radishes, gorgeous heads of pac choi, and maybe even some arugula this week!
 
Fountain Springs in Morrison reminds customers that although spring is in full swing, it's time to reserve your pasture raised turkey for the fall. Turkey deposits can be purchased in the meat section of the market. If you want the best quality bird on your Thanksgiving table, reserve one soon!

Darlene Seagroves from Brown's Hollar Creations in Tracy City wants customers to know that she will be out this week and hopes to return to the market soon.
