Market News

Many thanks to our customers and growers for your patience last week as we figured out how to manage without Kir and Linda (we miss you two). We appreciate you!

Dayspring Farm in Altamont will not be able to set up outside of the market for the next few weeks because it's calving season. Moooo! Lynn wants customers to know that the same great products that they have available outside are also available to order through the online market.

Bee Busters Farm in Winchester is having a sale on Ham Steaks, Blade Steaks, Picnic Roasts, Ribs and Sausage.

In Town Organics in Monteagle has plenty of garlic available. Jess says that she has finally sorted out her stock and found lots of French Silverskin which she has listed for sale in bags or braids.

There are even more varieties of apples available this week!

Pork and Apple Pie with Cheddar Sage Crust

This is not a locally written recipe (it's from epicurious) but it is one that I first enjoyed at a friend's house in Sewanee and it is best made with local pork and apples! It's decadent!
The South Cumberland Farmer's Market and the South Cumberland Food Hub are divisions of Rooted Here, located in Sewanee, Tenn., an organization of farmers, artisans, and agricultural producers who work together to facilitate and expand the sale of local products; provide education, services, and support to farmers and consumers; and lay the groundwork for a just, equitable, and sustainable local food economy.
