What's a Market Member?

This may seem like an easy question to answer but it is one that we have been wrestling with for some time. Market members are those who choose to pay our annual membership dues ($35) so that they can help to support and to steer Rooted Here as an organization. What are the benefits to membership? Well, for farmers, they have the opportunity to set up outside of the market when they have extra products to sell. Customers just get to vote and to feel like they have supported something worthwhile. That's not super exciting, I know. Rooted Here has been in a state of limbo for quite a while as we have considered different tax structures and what they would mean for our organization. While we don't have a whole lot of answers here, we do know that we want to stay a member based organization. Perhaps that will look like an agricultural cooperative or perhaps it will look more like an LLC, or perhaps something else. Regardless, it is the members who will decide and who will then determine what the benefits to membership look like in the future. We hope to create incentives to members that increase community involvement in our market and food hub. We hope to create something that truly belongs to us all. With that said, we are currently accepting members for 2016. If you would like to add your voice and help to shape our organization please consider becoming a member. You can do it when you place your order. Simply add a membership to your cart.
