Let’s say you’re drawing a border, underlining a title, or using lines to separate chunks of information. If you make heavy straight lines that are even slightly crooked, we instantly see them as “off” and they draw attention to themselves.
My favorite go-to solution for this is to use dotted (or dashed) lines! This type of line can mask any wobbly imperfections, imply permeability, and add a feeling of openness and energy to your visual notes.
To make sure they don’t distract from the text:
• Use a light color such as grey, pale blue or yellow
• Make the dashed lines thinner than your writing
