Private Discipline Precedes Public Demonstration
By Greg Sanders
Mark 1:35 Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray. 36 Later Simon and the others went out to find him. 37 When they found him, they said, “Everyone is looking for you.”
An iceberg’s mass is 91% below the surface of the water. That means everything you see is just a small indication of how large the hidden structure is below the waves. In the same way, spiritual power demonstrated in public light can only function by a consistent connection with the Father.  It is the practice of things that no one sees that prepares you for the demonstration that everyone notices.
Jesus demonstrated this practice and priority for us in Mark 1:35. Jesus often withdrew to isolated places to connect with His Father. If you desire to have the power to stand when the pressure is on, then you must learn to prioritize your time with God above all else. If you feel like there are too many demands on your time to create such a space in your schedule then you are in good company. Notice that even Jesus’ prayer time was interrupted with the demands of other people. Prayer is not a priority because you have time for it. Prayer is a priority because you make time to pray.
Today’s Challenge: Only when we truly recognize our source will we really lean into and prioritize it appropriately. Make time today to connect with the Father. Don’t just try to squeeze in this time.  Make it a priority
