When You Settle, Your Faith Settles
By Greg Sanders
2 Timothy 1:6 This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
Are you living your life reaching for all God has for you or have you settled along the way? Paul speaks to His protégé, Timothy, and encourages him to not let fear or timidity imprison him to a life that is less than what God has planned for Him. One of the tricks the enemy will use to sideline God’s plan for your life is to convince you to settle for where you are spiritually in your life. He will convince you that you have arrived, you have obtained everything, and you can now live your life on spiritual cruise control. The problem is that when you settle, your faith settles as well.
Your faith grows and contracts to the measure that you are exercising it daily. Paul writes to Timothy, and after complimenting His sincere faith, encourages him to stir up what has been put in Him. When you settle in your pursuit of God’s best for your life, the spiritual substance settles to the bottom. It’s not that the power, gifts, and promises of God are absent in your life they are just not active. In order to activate that Spiritual substance in you, you must do so by activating your personal pursuit of God and His plan for your life. When you settle, your faith settles.
Today’s Challenge: Don't let fear, timidity, or familiarity convince you to settle. Activate the gifts that God has put in you by pursuing Him and His plan for your life today.
