Deal with the Stain of Sin
By Greg Sanders

Psalm 51:1…Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. 2 Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin.

Every sin leaves a stain. Stains, by nature, are something that our best efforts cannot eradicate. Like me, I am sure that you have clothing that you have discarded or at least changed the purpose of them because a stain has disqualified them from their original intent. This is a picture of how the enemy desires to stain your life with sin. The devil wants to disqualify and derail you from your purpose and he uses sin to accomplish this task. Sin undermines the direction God wants to take you and destroys all parts of your life. This destruction, even when overcome with temporary will power, leaves a stain that reminds us of what we have lost and marginalizes our future. Small sins leave stains.  Secret sins leave stains. All sin leaves a stain.

There is only one way to have your sins blotted out. Human effort and good works will not accomplish it. Only Jesus can blot out the stain of sin. Only He can give you the power to consistently overcome sin and its devices. If you could deal with the stain of sin on your own then Jesus would have never left Heaven’s throne to come to earth for your redemption. The very reality of the life of Christ signals that not only do you need His intervention; He desires to intervene on your behalf. He is the only way to rid your life of the stain of sins. You don't have to hide your stains, deny they exist, or be plagued by the stain. You can bring your life to Jesus and He can erase the stains.

Today’s Challenge: Realize that Jesus did not come to earth to condemn you of your sins but rather to redeem you. Don't waste another moment hiding when Jesus desires to set you free.
