Ministry Updates

We are really excited about having two teams together for our summer missionary journeys to Bolivia. It has been an up and down road to recruiting these teams but the Lord is always faithful and he has again provided the right people for these journeys. We are trying something a little different for training these two teams since they are so close in the time frame (Santa Cruz, June 14-22 and Cochabamba, June 28-July 6). Instead of training exclusively in our two teams, we are training in one larger group. There is always something special about our training meetings since it's not just about training for the one week in another country, but it's more about learning to live on mission every day, no matter where you are! We are praying that these simple tools will be used to make disciples in communities around our area and throughout the globe.

Family Ministry Updates

You may or may not have heard that we have gotten our first foster care placement. We have worked and prayed a lot in preparation for this and are excited to join God in this new ministry. The Lord is already teaching us more than we could ever imagine about His grace, mercy, and sufficiency. We currently have one 3-year-old girl that has joined our family and we should be getting her 1-year-old sister in just a few days. It's been overwhelming at times to deal with the expected and unexpected behaviors but we have also been overwhelmed by the support from our friends and family. We are praying that the Lord allows us to build relationships with our social workers and other people in the child welfare system so that we can ultimately make a tangible difference and shine the light in the midst of some very dark circumstances.

For specific prayer...Our 3-year-old is especially aggressive at sleep times with lots of screaming, hitting, and crying for extended periods. We thought we were making progress but have seemed to regress a little. We are very concerned about this continuing since she will need to share a room with her sister in the days to come. Please pray for restorative sleep for us and her and patience to overcome this behavior.

Ministry Partner Update

We have tried to put an emphasis on developing new ministry partners so that we can get to our 100% budget and be truly driven by the vision that God has placed in our heart. It has been awesome to see Him provide new partners and get to share this ministry with more people. We still have some work to do as we are still a long way from 100% but the Lord is continually providing little by little (we have gotten over 20% of our monthly budget in new pledges over that last three months).

  • Continued leading as we intentionally make disciples locally and in our nation
  • God's leading in planning missionary journeys for 2018-2019
  • Blessings on our support team
  • As smooth a transition as possible to 3 children in the house

  • That we would cling to and invest deeper in our relationship with our Lord, Savior, and adoptive dad throughout this season
"Have you never heard?
Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint."
-Isaiah 40:28-31
