Paul Barakat's 'Kairos' announced as Film of the Year

Announced at the Closing Night event at HOYTS Bankstown on Saturday, 7 September, ‘Kairos’ was selected as Film of the Year by LFF Film Judges from a strong pool of films, including 12 features, 11 shorts and one documentary, with five being Australian made, and 11 of which were directed by women.

‘Kairos’ superhero lead actor Chris Bunton, plays Danny, a man with Down Syndrome who is driven to overcome his obstacles through his ambition to be a boxer. The film challenges stereotypes and shines the light on a community deserving of more representation on screen. Director, Paul Barakat and lead actor Bunton presented the film at the Closing Night.

Thanks to the support of BankSA and our local partners, ALCASA, the BankSA Lebanese Film Festival returns to Hoyts Norwood, presenting:

Friday, 27 September at 7.45pm:  'Good Morning' is a Lebanese comedy film set in a Beirut cafe. Two retired generals meet daily and give insight into Lebanese life and current affairs through their conversations with other cafe patrons. This film will be proceeded by a short film.

Saturday, 28 September at 7.00pm: 'Wanted' is a Lebanese comedy film directed by Nibal Arakji. The film follows four seniors who break out of their nursing home to protect a burial site from destruction. This film will be proceeded by a short film.
