Ruud Wellenberg Appointed AMS COVID-19 Coordinator
Ruud Wellenberg (Amsterdam UMC, location AMC) has been appointed within AMS for a period of four months to make an inventory of any COVID-19 calls, projects and proposals that are currently in preparation or up and running. Ruud will start with reaching out to the AMS program directors, but is eager to get in touch with anyone within AMS who is working on COVID related research, with the aim to bring together researchers and different expertise, to bundle existing expertise and reach for the top in COVID research.  Read more about Ruud's background. Contact.

Save the Date: Annual Conference Research Master Program Human Movement Sciences 
Every year the Human Movement Sciences Research Master students present their Research Projects in a conference.  About 12 presentations will be held from students and 3 invited presentations. Invited speakers: Prof. dr.
 Heleen Slagter, dr. Richard Jaspers and dr. Maarten Prins. Please join for lively discussions, meeting the new first year students and to congratulate the students with finishing the program.  Online meeting. (Zoom). Everyone is most welcome! DateAugust 24 and 25, 2020.

AMS Talent Call
The AMS financed call for talented PhD candidates and MSc. Students is open for application. There are in total 10 grants for projects that fall within the scope of Amsterdam Movement Sciences. PhD candidates may apply for a maximum of €5.000 and MSc. Students for a maximum of €3.000. The grants can be used for research projects within an AMS UMC department or elsewhere. AMS Investment Call
The AMS-VUmc investment call is now open. The equipment will be used for translational research and will be available to use for all interested researchers within Amsterdam Movement Sciences. It must be based at Amsterdam UMC, de Boelelaan. Additional financing (c.q. matching) is possible (if the available AMS budget is exceeded). The amount that can be requested is minimum €12.000 – maximum €40.216. Read more about the criteria. Deadline September 7, 2020.


NWO Gravitation Round
Join the online meeting about the NWO Gravitation round 2021 with an introduction by the VU Rector Magnificus. This meeting is for all VU and VUmc researchers who consider applying as main or co-applicants for the NWO Gravitation round 2021. Invited speaker is NWO Gravitation coordinator Anko Wiegel. Date: July 3, 2020, 12:00-14:00. Register via e-mail to Marte Simons (BZ): In order to be able to participate in the pre-selection for the Gravitation 2021 round, a completed preselection document and CV must be submitted to: the subsidiedesk before July 6, 2020 at 9.00.

On June 4, 2020 the COVID-19 Task Force organized its second webinar in collaboration with Amsterdam Infection & Immunity. The webinar addressed the optimization of post-COVID-19 care and research, and the restart of non-COVID-19 research within Amsterdam UMC. Joost Wiersinga, Frans Nollet and Kirsten Mooij-Kalverda spoke respectively about the COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 pathogenesis, the multidisciplinary post-COVID-19 outpatient clinic of Amsterdam UMC and the comprehensive rehabilitation for COVID-19 patients after ICU stay. EU Falls Festival 2021

The EU Falls Festival 2021 will be coming to Leuven, in the heart of Belgium and the heart of Europe, from April 15 till April 16, 2021.  Abstracts Submission and Registrations for EU Falls Festival 2021 is now open! The Scientific Committee welcomes the submission of high quality abstracts for Oral and Poster presentations focusing on the following topics: - Falls and implementation - Cognitive decline and falls - Technology and fall - Medication and falls Technology and falls - Medication and falls - Economical aspects and falls - Falls and Covid-19 related issues - Other. Dr. Saal van Zwanenberg Onderzoeksprijzen 2020

The Saal van Zwanenberg Onderzoeksprijzen benefit students who have written a research report during their master in the field of pharmaceutical and/or medical sciences in which a drug is central.The prizes are intended as an incentive for students whose research report has been approved by their supervisor(s) during the academic year 2019/2020.  Each supervisor may nominate one or two candidates. ACE Incubation Program: applications are open now

ACE (Amsterdam Center of Entrepreneurship) is thrilled to announce that applications for the next incubation program are open now. In November 2020 a brand new cohort of innovative startups will get access to intensive training and a network of mentors, experts and entrepreneurs that will take their entrepreneurial journey to the next level. Training Peer Coaching
Do you struggle with you work as VU PhD Candidate or Postdoc? P
eer coaching is a solution-oriented coaching technique in which 6-10 peers (people at the same point in their career) talk about work issues during structured meetings. You get the chance to improve your communication skills or, as facilitator, help the participants to get the most out of the meetings. The sessions are organized by VU Library and HRM. Facilitators will receive a certificate (PhD Candidates receive 0,5 ECTS). Email for more information. Register.
