Navigator's Log: March 2016

From the Bridge:

The Pace of Change

I just celebrated my 14th anniversary associated with SouthTech and can tell you it’s been a wild ride.  Pretty much like a roller coaster that never ends. For me personally, it has been thrilling and would go on it again without a thought. My best friend and wife, Marie, may have a different opinion.

From the Engine Room:

Business Grade Wireless for Your Business Grade Company

Take a minute to consider all of the data on your company's network. Everything on your servers and workstations. How much of that is sensitive and private? Financial records, trade secrets and privileged customer information may come to mind. Are you regulated by HIPPA or PCI compliancy? What are the repercussions if your suffered a breach and someone gained access to it all. A firewall may protect you from threats on the Internet, but it may not be enough if you leave your back door unlocked.

From the Operations Control Center:

3 Commonly Asked Questions from Clients & We Have Answers!
1. If I have an issue with my network, computer, or Star2Star phone system, should I call or email SouthTech?
2. When I email in a service request to, how long is it going to take to hear back from a Support Specialist?

All Faiths Food Bank Plans $3.1M Expansion to Better Serve Local Community in Need
After 18 months of planning, All Faiths has developed a fiscally conservative, cost-effective approach to increase the size of its facility. By purchasing the warehouse and land next door, the new, expanded facility will have 40,000 square feet  with a 4,000 square foot freezer/cooler. Once the expansion is complete millions more pounds of donated food will be available and All Faiths will have adequate warehouse and cooler space.
"We anticipate All Faiths will distribute an all-time record 8 million pounds of food this year", said Sandra Frank, CEO of the Food Bank. "Even more startling is 50 percent of children in Sarasota County and nearly 90 percent of the children in Desoto are either going hungry or face a high risk of hunger on any given day. The new facility will allow us to provide better services to all our neighbors while we shrink that hunger gap".
