Fab Update July 20 2020
Autumn on FabNewport

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are four months into the pandemic, and It's been nearly two months since George Floyd was murdered. The world has changed, and FabNewport has evolved to address the needs of our communities.

We now run a full slate of programs virtually and in-person to serve students across Rhode Island. And who said education couldn't change? The opportunity is ripe to improve pedagogical practices across the board. Our team, which on any given day includes up to 40 people when you include core staff, the AmeriCorps team, teen interns, and volunteers, are pushing hard for learning that puts students in the heart of authentic problem-solving....

Newport Experience 2020 (NEX)

We are super excited we have almost completed our second NEX week. Our students are having much fun and sharing with friends while learning.

We have explored Fort Adams; climbed the rigging of the tall ship Oliver Hazard Perry, visited Salve Regina University, identified trees in Miantonomi Park and local parks, taken the ferry to Jamestown, swam at several beaches and learning to paddle-board. Surfing, sailing, and Norman Bird Sanctuary are on the horizon.

For most of these activities, we use our bikes as a way of transportation and incentive for them to move!

Stay tuned for more news about our latest explorations around our little city by the sea.

Make Your Life - Monthly Prompt
What’s something about your city you’d like to explore more? How can you be an explorer of your local area this month? It might be about going to places you’ve never been before, or about noticing new things in a spot you always go to or meeting new plants, people, or animals!

*Don’t forget to tune in on Fridays @ 3 PM on IG Live to get some ideas and inspiration by an Art Class with Nycole Marvelous
