Remain vigilant of coronavirus scams
Criminals will use the confusion and urgency around the pandemic as a way to target potential victims. With the recent approval of multiple vaccines in the UK, these types of scam attempts are likely to continue as fraudsters look to take advantage of the rollout to so many people.
Cold calls regarding the vaccine are also beginning to take place – Which? have already had reports of scammers asking people to pay for it over the phone. If you receive one of these calls, hang up.
My wife and I have received our first dose of vaccine today and we are aware of friends older than us who have yet to receive a date. We know they are anxious about this and we are sure there are many more like them. This makes them extremely vulnerable to the types of scams currently doing the rounds. We received our dates by a phone call from our practice (Polden Medical Practice), others may be informed by letter.
Don’t get caught by the Virus. Don’t get caught by a virus-related fraud.
