Hearts to Haiti
On August 14 a devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti, leaving an estimate of 1,300 dead, 5,000 injured, and 13,000 homes destroyed. Logansport First UMC is collecting a love offering to help the family members and friends of those connected with their congregation in Haiti. A Christian Look at Critical Race Theory
Critical race theory examines how laws in the United States have built and supported racial inequities. The United Methodist Commission on Religion and Race offers an online panel about the theory, featuring law and seminary professors. The agency also has an infographic that aims to separate myths from truth.

Leadership Clinics Available
Bishop Gregory Palmer has put together three live online leadership clinics for this Fall. They include sessions with the Rev. Nadia Bolz-Weber, who was founding pastor of House for All Sinners and Saints in Denver; Beth Comstock, czar of innovation at General Electric; and Jemar Tisby, author and director of narrative and advocacy at the Center for Antiracist Research at Boston University. Cost for each clinic is $20 for Ohio and Illinois leaders, and $40 for other church leaders. A discounted package for all three clinics is also available.
