The Schneider Museum of Art is excited to be a part of Disjecta Contemporary Art Center’s groundbreaking Portland2016: A Biennial of Contemporary Art. The Museum is one of twenty-five different exhibition spaces across the state of Oregon that is showing works this summer.

Portland2016 is on view from Monday, July 11 through Saturday, October 15, 2016. Regular Museum hours are Monday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Please join us for Tuesday Tours, drop in docent led tours of the exhibition held every Tuesday at noon. The Schneider Museum of Art’s summer exhibition is generously supported by Rogue Frameworks, the Oregon Arts Commission, The Ford Family Foundation, Roseburg, OR, and the National Endowment for the Arts – Artworks program.

Winners of nearly every national chamber music prize since its founding in 2009, the Akropolis Reed Quintet has revolutionized chamber music with its powerful and dexterous instrumental lineup. Formed at the University of Michigan and the first reed quintet to win the Fischoff Gold Medal in 2014 and Fischoff Educator Award in 2015, the Akropolis Quintet includes oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bass clarinet, and bassoon.

"The Space Between Us"
This is an adventurous Explorations concert, featuring the music of lauded composers Joel Puckett, John Steinmetz, and Gregory Wanamaker. Known for their infectious energy and intensity, Akropolis performs this concert on the stage, in the audience, and even with the audience!

Vocal and Instrumental Poetry is a brilliant expression of musical artistry featuring tenor Brian Thorsett, Michal Palzewicz on cello and violin and Martin Majkut on piano. Program includes music by Schubert, Monteverdi, Britten, Dubois, Scherperel, Conte, Clarke and Palzewicz.

Presale tickets available for $20 at the Music Coop in Ashland, online or at the door (as available) for $25. Admission is free for all children and students (with valid student ID).
