Deagon Ward E-News

December 2018

With there only being a few more sleeps until Christmas, what better time to take a look back at all the amazing things we have celebrated and achieved here in the Deagon Ward in 2018!

This year we saw the ongoing success of annual events such as Australia Day by the Bay, the Bluewater Festival, the Einbunpin Festival and Gardening at the Gate. 2018 also hosted a spectacular one-off event, the Commonwealth Games Baton Relay.

I had the pleasure of visiting all of the schools in the Deagon Ward to celebrate awards nights, arts nights, graduation ceremonies and other special events.

We can also celebrate the great achievements we have had as a community this year like getting funding for footpath upgrades, road resurfacing and park improvements across the Deagon Ward. There were also a number of sporting facility upgrades for local clubs in the community.

December has been an action packed month with schools, community groups, churches and others celebrating special milestones like grade 6 graduations and Christmas celebrations. We celebrated Pacific Island Christmas in the Park, Carols by the Bay, Jingle all the Bay, Seniors Christmas Concerts, featuring performances from local superstars Jim Hansen and Pete Vance, and our numerous Christmas lights displays.

It's certainly been a very big year here on the Northside and I have been immensely proud to work on behalf of the community in Council and I look forward to continuing to do so again in 2019. I would like to take this chance to wish you and your family and friends a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.

Keep an eye out on my Facebook page to keep up to date with local news and events.

If you are part of a local community group and want me to feature an upcoming event in my e-news please contact my office to arrange this.
