Expands protection of pristine, ancient forests.
With roughly 70% of old growth forests still undisturbed, Papua New Guinea (PNG) is considered one of the last, truly pristine tropical wildernesses on Earth and believed to contain as much as 6% of land-based biodiversity. These forests are immediately threatened with clearing by fire for palm oil development. You can help prevent that. This project expands Papua's only conservation area by 195,759 acres, helps about 12,000 indigenous people continue their traditional ways of life, protects some of the world’s most diverse mammals, birds, birds of paradise, plants, and marine wildlife (such as leatherback turtles) from extinction, and more. Give to our nonprofit partner Rainforest Trust and help save Earth’s last, large tropical island paradise. You'll be helping to protect ancient cultures, our climate, an enormous amount of biodiversity, and global eco balance -- and helping to expand federal protection of the world's third largest tropical rainforest, the world's most valuable ecosystems!
