A reminder to families as rates of flu, COVID and upper respiratory infections
are on the rise

Dear parents/guardians,
It's that time of year again-cold and flu season! With the rise of a host of respiratory viruses, including influenza, RSV, and COVID-19, a reminder for our school community to consider the following to minimize the spread of germs:
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Heavily soiled hands should be washed.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Mask wearing for anyone with lingering symptoms post-illness is recommended and appreciated, but is not required or mandated.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

In case of inclement weather

As the snowy months approach, the Heuvelton CSD would like to remind you how you will receive notice if school will be operating under a delay or will be closed due to inclement weather. If a snow day is called, students should not report to school (remote or otherwise).

As always, we will contact you if there are any changes in the daily school schedule. Information will also be posted on our website and shared with local media outlets.  Please contact hcscommunications@heuvelton.k12.ny.us to register with Parent Square if you would like to receive district messages.

Please remember, neighboring districts have differing needs and challenges and may decide to offer remote instruction on snow days. Although some districts may choose to provide instruction remotely instead of closing school, the often unpredictable nature of inclement weather can negatively impact our ability to deliver high-quality remote instruction on short notice.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your student’s building principal.
