Fradley News
Candlelit Supper

Friday 12 January 7.30pm saw St. Stephen’s Church lit with candles as 26 guests enjoyed a home cooked three course meal of brussels pate or melon, beef or chicken casserole finishing with white chocolate torte or trifle or meringues and raspberries and accompanied by a glass of wine.  After dinner entertainment included songs from the 50s sung by Julia Usher and Graham Griffiths accompanied by Tim Chamberlain which was followed by a raffle.  Over £300 was raised to help maintain the church.  Many thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make it a successful evening.

The Walking Group
The walking group enjoy a 5-7 mile walk on the 4th Saturday of the month.
Members of St. Stephen’s Church, Fradley and St. Chad’s Church, Lichfield
join together for fresh air, exercise and fellowship!
The walks are usually fairly local, meeting either in Lichfield or in Fradley
and each one is organised by a different leader.
The next walk will be on Saturday 24th February.
See the Weekly Bulletin for more details or phone or email any of the Fradley contacts

With all the excitement of Christmas the October Harvest 'bring and share' luncheon seemed a distant memory but in January a small group of friends were able to enjoy their harvest auction purchase - a delicious afternoon tea at the home of Derek and Elaine Lloyd.  They were treated to a choice of sandwiches on bone china plates followed by scones with clotted cream and jam with  a selection of home made cakes washed down with a variety of different teas. It was a splendid way to spend a cold winter afternoon reminding us that summer was on the way and that the church had benefited from the occasion. Thank you Derek and Elaine

St Stephen’s church is planning to produce a calendar for 2019. The 2017 one ‘celebrated the area and village of Fradley’. The 2019 wants to reflect the many clubs, groups and activities in the village. If you belong to a group of walkers, flower arrangers, cyclists or local history and would like your group included in the calendar contact Jenny Watts on
jenniferann48@icloud.com

The Craft Group at St Stephen’s Church Fradley is working to produce a ‘Poppy Curtain’ and is keen to involve as many people in the local community as we can. The curtain is to commemorate both the airmen buried in the churchyard and all those who gave their lives in the World Wars. You can knit, crochet, weave, macramé or use felt and fabrics to make the poppies. Patterns and ideas are available on www.wonderwoolwales.co.uk. Once on the site click onto ‘Woolschool’ and then click onto ‘poopy curtain’. Collection points are Fradley Post Office and St Stephen’s Church. For further information contact Jenny Watts on jeniiferann48@icloud.com

St Stephen’s church is also raising money for Guide Dogs for the Blind by collecting stamps, coins and keys. We aim to be able to name a dog ‘Fradley’, so want as many people from the local community to become involved. Any postage stamps, used or collected, old and foreign coins including those no longer accepted currency and new and old keys. So when spring cleaning and clearing out drawers, cupboards and bags don’t throw the stamps, keys and coins away they can change a life. Collection points are Fradley Post Office, St Stephen’s School and St Stephen’s Church. Further information from Jenny Watts at
