Lord We Know That We Have Failed You
  1. Lord we know that we have failed you, false and foolish in so much;
loath to listen to your guidance, slow to recognise your touch.
Though we keep you at a distance, by our side, Lord, you remain;
Cleanse our hearts, renew our spirits, give us grace to start again.
  1. Lord, we know that we have failed you, through the things we do and say,
Though we claim to care for others, we have thrust their needs away.
Too concerned with our own comfort, we have added to their pain;
Teach us to do ‘faith in action’, give us grace to start again.
  1. Lord, we know that we have failed you, full of doubt when life’s been hard;
Suffering has sapped our vision, sorrow left our spirits scarred.
Faced by bitter disappointment, faith has buckled under strain;
Help us know your hand upon us, give us grace to start again.
  1. Lord, we know that we have failed you, lives too fraught to stop and stare;
          Dwelling always on the present – what to eat or drink or wear.
          Teach us first to seek your Kingdom, in our hearts forever reign;
          Send us out, restored, forgiven, give us grace to start again.
God Forgave My Sins
  1. God forgave my sin, in Jesus’ name; I’ve been born again, in Jesus’ name.
And in Jesus’ name, I come to you – to share his love, as he told me to.
He said, ‘Freely, freely you have received; freely, freely give.
Go in my name and, because you believe, others will know that I live.
  1. God gives new life in Jesus’ name, he lives in us in Jesus’ name;
And in Jesus’ name, I come to you – to share his peace as he told me to.
He said, ‘Freely, freely you have received; freely, freely give.
Go in my name and, because you believe, others will know that I live.

St Stephen’s Church open 10am-4pm every day for private prayer
Please call in, stay awhile remembering the hygiene rules and keeping social distancing whilst there!
At the end of August there were a couple programmes on TV focused on “Battle of Britain- 3 days that saved the nation”. It was the greatest battle the RAF ever fought, but at the heart of its story were the people.
St Stephen’s Churchyard has a story to tell- that of the 31 Airmen who were buried there (there are 33 War Graves in Fradley including 2 from WW1). Close to RAF Lichfield it was the final resting place of those who served, fought and died in both World Wars.
This weekend we commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain with an Act of Remembrance. One German airman lays in the churchyard also – someone’s son, brother or husband.
We remember them all as this weekend we will gather to give thanks for our history, our friends, our country; we remember those who have given their lives, and we celebrate the gifts that we now enjoy because of
them………………………………gifts of freedom, of justice, of peace and of truth.
Remember the courage, the comradeship, the ingenuity, the spirit of working together for a common cause, the planning together for a better world that would come with peace. Remember the love that was lost, the wisdom wasted, and the minds that are still pained by memories. Remember the families bereft by recent wars and conflict. And we commit ourselves to work in penitence and faith for reconciliation between nations that all people may, together, live in freedom, justice and peace.

Harvest at Home
This year because of the Covid 19 pandemic and restrictions we are not able to hold our traditional Harvest Supper. This has been a major fundraiser in the past so the monies raised will be greatly missed particularly as St. Stephen's Church, like most churches, is struggling financially at this moment. Our idea this year is to celebrate ‘Harvest at Home’. Maybe willing volunteers would host a mini (less than 6) Harvest Supper in their own home among their family or social bubble and ask your guests for a fee to donate to ‘Harvest at Home’ for church funds?  Tim Chamberlin has offered to record some entertainment which would be played as an online link during the evening.
If you are happy to host a supper without infringing any Government rules or compromising your own safety please let Julia Usher know. (07718 077868)
(All dependent, of course, on the ever changing guidelines as these arise)

Riders and Striders raising money for The Staffordshire Historic Churches Trust. Thank you to all who have offered to staff the church today.
David Anderton is cycling for this worthy cause. Please sponsor him if you are able.
St Stephen’s will receive half of the money David raises for the Trust.

Thank you to all who helped set up and sell at our ‘Table Top Sale’ last Sunday. Over £150 was raised for Church Funds. A great effort and greatly appreciated!
Prayer Trail
During lock down a Prayer Trail has been developed with four stations around the Churchyard and one in Church. Each numbered station has been marked up now with a pallet board. Do pick up a leaflet from the Porch and make your own reflection as you spend time at each site.
Food Bank
Thank you to all who continue to support the Food Bank. There is even greater demand for assistance in the current crisis. Donations can now be left in Church. Their latest needs are:
Tinned tuna       Tinned vegetables          Biscuits                                Tinned fruit

       “We’re Good To Go” is the official UK mark to signal that we have follow Government COVID-19 guidelines and has a process in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing. We have successfully applied for the ‘Good to Go’ Industry standard and this has been granted.
Worship in Church
We are committed to keeping everyone who enters our building, and those who worship in it, safe. We have introduced a number of new measures to ensure this happened as we reopened for private prayer and reflection. Now we are continuing with the directive issued by The Church of England and Lichfield Diocese to implement further measure as public worship resumes.
  • Please keep to a social distance of 2 metres. Please note that face coverings are now mandatory in public buildings unless you fall into one of the exemption categories.
