Kia ora koutou katoa

With the end of this year rapidly approaching, planning is certainly underway for next year.  Teachers are busy developing ideas for their programmes in 2016, and exploring/developing the teaching practices that will deliver these programmes.  In 2016 we will be maximising the use of our 'Modern Learning Environment' at Waitaki Valley School. Later in the term we will hold an information afternoon for parents, to outline the intended plans.  More information later.

Michelle Harper has been appointed as our new Office Administrator from the beginning of 2016.  Michelle joins us from her Support Staff role at Waitaki Boys' High School.  She will be spending a bit of time at Waitaki Valley before the end of the year in order to become familiar with our school and our systems.  Please make yourself known to her.

Maddy Bullin, our newly appointed teacher for 2016 will be visiting this Friday. We look forward to welcoming her to our Waitaki Valley Community too.

We have had St John deliver First Aid programmes with all of our classes today. This has been a great programme for everyone to be involved in.  Tomorrow we welcome back the Sport Activators from Youthtown.

Room 4's camp preparation is all falling into place. They head away to Aoraki Mount Cook  next Wednesday (25th) and return on Friday 27th.  I look forward to joining them on their first day away.

Good luck to all those athletes who are competing at the North Otago Athletics event on Monday afternoon and to the small group heading to the Dunedin Athletic Champs tomorrow.

Have a great rest of your week.

"Bella"

One Saturday morning we woke up and all we heard was yelping.  We were all so worried about our dog Bella.
Mum rang the Waimate Vet.  They said that we should take Bella to the Kurow Vet right away.  The Kurow Vet sent us to the Waimate Vet.
On the way up there she was vommiting so much.  When Mum, Lily and I got to the Waimate Vets, we found out that she had swallowed a small but sharp bone, and she was constipated.
The Vet gave us some pills to give to Bella.  After a few days of the pills she was perfect again!
Today we had Jan & Carol from St John's leading everyone through some First Aid Training.
Here are students from Room 4 trying their new bandaging skills.
Check out the Room 5 Blog for a photo of their visit to the ambulance.
Anna Keno from 'Giant Leaps Speech and Drama' will be offering a 'Taster Session' for students on Tuesday December 1st.
To register your child's interest in a session, please fill in the required information in this link - Giant Leaps Speech and Drama Taster Sessions.
Anna will also be offering a question and answer session for parents at 2.30pm on this day. You can book your seat at this session on the online form too.
The intention is that if we have enough interest families will be able to enrol children in classes at Waitaki Valley School for Term 1 2016. These will work as the Piano lessons currently do, where students will be rostered during the day to participate in these lessons and programmes.
