We did it!
Phew! All that lack of sleep was worth it!! What a great game of rugby and we are World Champions again! We have also had a saturation of Kurow in the media - I'm sure that our wee place in the world is almost as famous as the rugby team itself.
A sense of community is important and this has certainly been evident on quite a scale here at Waitaki Valley. It was quite prevalent country-wide too and the country will continue to bask in the glory for quite some time yet I'm sure!
Over the weekend the Board of Trustees appointed a new teacher to our school for 2016. We are excited about the skills that Mrs Madeleine (Maddy) Bullin will bring to us. She will visit us before the end of the year, in order to meet more people in our community and to begin her familiarisation with our school.
At our Board meeting last week Nicole Phillips was co-opted to the vacancy left by Simon Taylor's departure. We welcome Nicole to this important role in our school community. The 3-yearly Board of Trustees elections will occur in May 2016. Please take time to consider if you might be interested in making yourself available for the Board. If you want to know more about the role feel free to make contact with any of our current Board members (Janina Slee, Michael Smith, Shelley Small or Richard Sime).
The pool is being prepared for the season. We have dealt with some mechanical issues and are now going through the process of getting the water prepared. Keys will be available at the same cost as last year:
Full Season Key $170 (including $20 bond)
Half Season Key $100 (including $20 bond)
Week Key $100 (50 plus $50 bond)
With the snow on the hills around us this morning, we are hoping that the weather will be fine for athletics tomorrow. Any postponement will be communicated through the phone tree list and on Facebook.
And finally . . . we wish our Jump Jammers all the best as they prepare for the National Champs in Christchurch on Friday. I'm looking forward to seeing all their hard work and training coming to fruition.
Have a great week
