THE MCE CONNECTION

QUALITY SERVICE, EXPERIENCED STAFF, PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS

NEW UST MONITORING PROGRAM!

Were you aware that on 7/15/16, EPA enacted a new regulation that they will require a walk through inspection of USTs every 30 days…and you have to show reporting of each inspection?  MCE is offering a new UST Compliance Management Program headed up by Charles McDaniel.  Charles is a recently retired Georgia EPD UST Inspector and has intimate knowledge of what is required within these inspections to keep you compliant.
The MCE Compliance Program starts with an initial on-site inspection that will identify any equipment deficiencies that needs to be addressed, report analysis, and development of a monthly and annual checklist of required testing and documentation.  MCE will start up monthly visits with a facility audit, analysis of reports and put procedures in place for any new regulations. We pride ourselves on having out client’s back and we are proud to offer this service to our UST customers.

Recent Project:
Limited Subsurface Investigation (LSI)
The Issue:
Mill Creek Environmental was performing a Phase I Environmental  Assessment on a parcel of undeveloped land in Alabama.

MCE Investigation:
State and National database research was completed as well as an on-site assessment when an Underground Storage Tank system was discovered.

The Results:
MCE recommended to the client to perform a Limited Subsurface Investigation (LSI) to  determine if soil and/or groundwater had been impacted by the UST system on the subject property.

A busy day in the field pulling multiple tanks from the ground!
Underground Storage Tanks were first used in the 1920's when businesses started putting storage tanks underground to save space.  And it is unknown today how many UST's really exist in the USA!  It is believed the UST population is around 15 million, but only 1.5 - 3 million are being regulated to federal standards.
A Message from Rich Fanning

Words that have entered our everyday vocabularies:
  • Sustainability
  • Environmental strategy
  • Ecosystem services
  • Values-driven employees
  • Eco-Advantage
  What do they mean?
In short, we are becoming more aware of the transition between the times when businesses were seen as the “polluters” to the times where businesses are now leading the charge on environmental changes and improvements to their businesses and communities (sustainability). At MCE we have had the pleasure to work with many clients that have not only looked to adopt environmental solutions in their everyday work processes, they have weaved environmental care and improvements into their very company cultures (environmental strategy). These are companies that are truly interested in understanding their surroundings (ecosystem services), the impact their business has on their communities and further yet, they want to hire employees who care about the same ideals and values as they have (values- driven employees). Businesses have come to realized that they have a leg-up over their competition when their company culture allows for doing business this way, these companies understand that caring for the environment is the way of the future, both for operating as excellent community stewards and the sustainability of their business and on-going profits (eco-Advantage).
It has been an honor to work with so many forward thinking companies who manage to keep the right balance between all the pressures they face in operating a business in today’s complex and fast-paced world.  It is our mission at MCE to help each of you achieve this balance with as little disruption to your business as humanly possible.

The environmental consulting & solutions business is competitive and we recognize that you have choices in who you decide on to help you solve your environmental challenges….we know that your trust and loyalty must be earned every time we do business with you, we embrace that opportunity.

The Cost Of Leaking Tanks Or Lines?

The average clean-up cost today of a fuel release to the environment is $350,000!  In addition there can be monetary fines and other hidden cost to deal with. Did you know that if  you do not have proof of your GUST paperwork at an inspection.... you may not qualify for GUST reimbursement when and if you need it. Don't be caught out of compliance, the potential impact to your business can be devastating.
