It has been 4 months since our last update, and we have a lot to share with you. We've made videos, planted wildflower seeds, and gained lots of ideas from the community.
BioBlitz
In November, we held our first BioBlitz with the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society. The event was well-organized thanks to Merav Vonshak at Audubon with support from many of her science colleagues. We had 50 people attend, many from outside San Jose. Over 300 observations were made (only four had been previously recorded) and 121 species identified. You can read more and view the observations.
Overview Video
Coyote Meadows Overview provides a drone’s eye view of the exciting possibilities for this 50-acre city-owned parcel. The images and audio help you obtain a stunning view of the landscape.
Virtual Tour
San Jose State University students created a Virtual Tour of Coyote Meadows. You can move to the different stops; look around left and right to see an animal or an information icon; take in the view from the top of the park to get the scenic view of downtown and the mountain ranges. Thanks to the students for their excellent work.
Interview Videos
We have a small collection of video interviews about the Ashworth-Remillard house, brickyard company, and others that you can see that are listed on our website. Check them out and leave a comment. Thanks to Larry Ames for creating most of these.
Finally, we are near completion of our planning concept and stewardship project with the Open Space Authority Grant. We will share that document on our website once it is completed.
In the meantime, we plan to host more seed plantings, BioBlitzes, and walking tours as we work towards the Coyote Meadows Park to be realized.
See you soon!
